RE: Lithium10 Jul 2025 12:06
Fair point, and I’m not denying that public-facing moves are being made to show intent. But I’d caution against taking official promises at face value, especially in Ghana's political context.
Yes, the Minerals Minister has said they’re committed to “resolving delays,” but the key phrase is “expedited engagement with MIIF and Parliament”. That tells you ratification still isn't imminent. MIIF’s role here is deeply political, and as we’ve seen, Parliament can drag things out when interests are split or leverage is being sought elsewhere.
If Ghana wants long-term infrastructure investment from China (EV plants, roads, etc.), Ewoyaa is a bargaining chip. This isn't just about lithium mining; it's part of a larger geopolitical play.
Will NDC give Ewoyaa ratification, yes they have to to get the Lithium supply chain infrastructure they are trying hard to get dealt, just a very real chance of a Chinese deal that doesn’t favour retail. There is also a chance we get ratification by end of August and then we get buyout offers from the Chinese players listed below or even Assore
