The 4M share transaction at 1.05p is undoubtedly a buy since the MMs have kept sp increase, and although at midpoint, a serious buy like that would get a great price on a share with not much liquidity.

Shell in Brasil, has developed a 'plug in' plant for farmers, to manufacture ferttiliser from the farmers own produced biomass and urea compounds supplied by Shell.

Law suits in USA against non-USA companies are notoriously bad for the defendants. eg. BP and Deep Water Horizon in GOM. Damages in excess of $60Billion . A move away from Fossil fuels, beginning with large incentives for 'start up' electric vehicle manufacturers. Big Oil is USA has not shown the initiatives that Shel and BP. have shown in investments in renewables ( or at least we have been told that). GW is the most serious challenge we have ever faced. Electrification of transport, either with BEV or HFCV is a quick way to drastically reuce C emissions, with the added benefit od cleaner air to breath. Shel, I believe is still the largest producer of H2 Worldwide through SRM. This method still has a large C footprint, but work is ongoing on C capture. The 'greenest' H2 is from Electrolysis using renewable energy. At present, artificially inflated oil price, then profitabilty for oil companies, especially with large Upstream and Downsream profit centres that Shel enjoy, will be artificially raised. Oil Co. executives cannot take the credit for oil rising from $40 to $$100+ pb, but will take the bonuses. There is good profit margins in renewable energy, but not the same as when oil is $50+ pb. . At least high price of oil is increasing investment in renewables, and Shel is one of the major players.

Re; Synthetic fuel. This is heavily promoted by car manufacturers. They want us to keep driving ICE cars. Why? Massive income from dealership licenses, massive income from spare parts. BEV/HFEV have less moving parts, hence less maintenance. There are many methanol production methods, in the main from biomass, especially corn in USA and Brasil. However synthetic methanol is manufactured from H2 and CO2, the H2 being produced from electrolysis and CO2 from air. However, CO2 is released into the atmosphere during combustion, along with water. The C footprint comes from both the production of the SF and the ICE, and this, I suggest will be greater than the C footprint from either mfg batteries or Fuel Cells. However, SF are obviously much more desirable than diesel/petrol since the latter release carcinogens and and other unwelcome particulate matter into the atmosphere.

Boy. I believe your sentiments are correct re; share B/B. The last tranche bought £8.5b, or approx. 425M shares. This reduced the cos, share in issue by 6%. This should eventually relate to an increase in 'normal' divi by 6%. If the £8.5b had been returned to S/H, with 7.3b shares in issue, each share would receive £1.16. Shel should not offer shares in lieu of cash divi. It only dilutes value. S/H can easily buy extra shares £10 dealing charge is insignificant if one has received £1.16 per share. How many share B/B have it done over the years?

A better example of sp declining because of outside events is Rolls Royce. In 2013 was a £12 share, fell to about £6 beginning of 2020 because of too many factors to list, and is now a 80p share because of Covid. We still have not reached 'safery zone' with cv19 yet, mainly because of many people not getting vaccine. However, RR. is still the same company as in 2019, with a few more profit enhancing products. Passenger numbers will return to pre-pandemic numbers, and possibly LHR will change it's management to people who know what they are doing. Many RR. S/H did not sell all their holdings post pandemic, and many bought on the way down £4, 3, 2 1. I'm sure many have 'av, down' at present sp. It can't be a gamble?, can it?

First, the second part of your comment is obviously not true in the majority of cases. eg. SSE fell from over £19 on MaY 23 To under £16 mid June. It has now risen to mid £17. We are invested here because we believe the sp will go considerably N of its present value. Shares never go up in straight lines, and rarely fall to bankruptcy in straight lines.
'Averaging down' is well understood, but has to be done with caution. It is normally used when sp's fall due to events outside of companies control, eg. falls in sp of mfg companies because of supply problems caused by war in Ukraine. At some point in the future, the problem will be resolved. Av. down when falls are because of companies poor policies problematic, but can be good choice if management is changed. Investing is not easy.

The quickest way to reduce environmental C, and hence GW, is to ban ICE in Western World, and hopefully China. ( Russia would not be interested). BEV and HFCV are the way forward, At present, HFCV at too exoensive for the vast majority of people. SS batteries are already increasing range of EV. For HGV, trains, ships, buses, aircraft, HFCV is the way forward. By far the cheapest H2 is from SRM ( steam reforming methane). This is blue H2 since it has a C footprint. Green H2 is electrolysis using renewable energy ( wind, solar, wave etc.) Both BP and Shell are divesting oil, and increasing their portfolio of renewables. Big Oil stateside is heavily backed by GOP ( Republican party) whose Lawmakers are in the pockets of said Big Oil. Biden has big problems pushing through his energy transition bills, since Democrats do not have enough seats in either House ( they have a 1 majority in Congress, but have a rebel member in Manchin who is the pocket of Big Oil.). The Autumn mid-term elections will show if US is serious about tackling GW, but the Republican majority Supreme Courts decision to ban abortion will be the overiding consideration. The days of Big Oil as we know it, are numbered, but companies like BP and Shell will grow from strength to strength .
