"The individuals housed in hotels under Home Office contracts are not “illegal”"
They entered the country without documents (thrown in the channel), i.e. passports, visas etc, this is illegal and it they were to come here via an airline they would be returned and the airline fined. This government can call them what they like, irregular migrants, asylum seekers, bit like irregular shopping i.e. shop lifters.
"they’re asylum seekers whose claims are being processed"
In fact they are being waved thought to reduce the number waiting and civil servants in the working from Home office get £75 for each one they let in, the ones that get turned down almost all then still get the right to stay. After being establish here they then bring there extended family in to live in the UK , get benefits, housing, free medical treatment etc. Of course they will keep coming in large number until Reform get into government and then it will stop.
The left need to wakeup and smell the coffee or Labour will never be in government again which they deserve just like the Torys.
