not entirely correct, this virus is mutating with 8 separate strains now across the world. If these change the surface proteins of the virus the antibody test becomes less sensitive. Also vaccines may become less useful. It's what happens to flu each year and why you need vaccination regularly. If this happens then PCR based testing is incredibly important because they can stay relevant testing for the latest active infection. I think we may see this become a perpetual challenge and continual monitoring of flu like symptoms for a few years to come.

Even when the peak has happened, testing becomes even more important to prevent secondary peaks. If you haven't seen these they're worth a read, an historic example of flattening the curve with the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic, in days where there wan't that same level of travel and interconnectedness as there is today. And the fact that there are now at least 8 different strains, some may mean you're not protected even of you've had one of the other strains. Also could make vaccine difficult like flu today... Testing is going to be around a long time.

Switch out the reagents and it can do any, they already have tests for HCV which is another virus and I’m sure that DOD test will be for nasty viruses of one sort or another

I don’t think so. They have a high throughout test that can be used in the same testing labs but that saves time because the test reagents are all lyophilised into the same tube (the other tests have the reagents separates) so you just add sample, then the same test is put on Genedrive as a point of care test so as well as running in the lab you can run outside the lab. It’s unique I think.

That would give a market cap of ca. £100m. This time next year Rodney...

And all the tests to follow once the platform is being used. If Genedrive manage this properly they’ll have a solid installed platform on which to future proof the business.

I’ve been looking at the systems for molecular testing of COVID-19 as point of care. Genedrive is definitely the most portable and it’s use by the US DOD shows it’s portability. I’m excited to see progress, the amount of testing suggests lots of these will be needed and also in the future what tests could be put onto these once the pandemic is over. HCV, AIHL, TB.... what about other tests? If Genedrive could turn around Covid-19 in a couple of months it sort of suggests other tests could be done. HIV, HPV? I’m biased, I’ve held these shares a long time. Good to see this doing what it was built to do.

Agree, genedrive should technically be a better fit. Let’s hope for more good news next week.

These are same as Randox units, they’re big, not point of care and the cost of goods look much bigger compared to Genedrive imo

Seems to work and hold off the rise, trading volume is there which for us long term holders is nice to see!

I agree, if they get this right it will set genedrive up for a long time to come as the de facto deployable diagnostics platform. Going to be exciting.

CTW, he looked like someone who knew the value of what he has :) Agree, it probably will be a result in under an hour. It will be critical so fingers crossed they will get this out there. A few people questioning the 8-week timeline. I suspect there is a bit of caution thrown in there, contrary to popular belief AIM CEO's have to be careful what they announce publicly. Verifiable statements. I suspect some follow on news next week or the week after and some detail in April on testing and manufacture scale-up. All positive IMO
