Ref the local elections - tactically Labour have made a huge mistake as the smaller parties like reform and the Greens can concentrate their limited resources in the elections that are being held this year and make a better showing. When the 2026 elections are held they can rinse and repeat and learn from any mistakes. Labour will be trounced imv.

Frankly the B of E is playing a dangerous game cutting interest rates when inflation by CPI measures is rising to 3% and RPI to 4% when the target is 2%. They are telling the markets that GBP is not a safe currency as they are happy for inflation to erode the value of all government bonds - the market will price that in for sure!

With Gold the price it is surely Newmont have more cash than their plan , so why would they sell any GGP until the sp reflects the asset value?

Gareth, interesting your impression of the Tunisians. At work , as client we were taken to a tribunal by a contractor and rather than settle for £20 in advance my boss wanted to play for time - because he was hopefull for promotion and we went through a process and paid out nearly £400k. So maybe the officials are not personally bothered about commercial matters just have other reasons to delay/ be incompetent?

Ant, those energy figures are really impressive . We have a similar size house and pay almost £200 per month for electricty for hot water and lighting etc plus £209 per month for gas - heating and aga. How well insulated is your place as the size of your unit is about half what I thought you would have needed?

Fog, I think buy backs help investors with eps growth in a more tax efficient way than divis so I am happy with them.

Trading update looks average at best - not enough wind it seems. Sp likely to drift a little lower imv.

I bought in yesterday because the drop was over done imv and the investment case rests on falling interest rates making returns here attractive - i.e a bond proxy. I think the company is totally ex growth and will likely sell once the sp claws back to 80p ish.

The canada price is 9.8p equivalent just now - so tomorrow will be fun!

I have sold up because the whole country is so corrupt anything can happen here now imv.
