Superdry sales fell 23.5% in their first half due to unseasonal weather etc and that makes the small miss on profit expectations here look sparkling by comparison, notwithstanding , of course the fact that JD actually grew sales!
Wig , I reckon nutmeg is advising the FDA on the quality control problems at Boeing - he has disclosed that the entire easyjet fleet has doors held in place with gaffer tape and should be grounded immediately.
Tomorrow will be interesting because we are likely going to get wider press coverage and a further lift - hopefully a RNS with something positive also.
Dug, IMV the Transform trial ought to use the PSE test and the Stockholm test and take a view of performance at the end. Without spelling it out, given the higher prevelance of Prostate cancer in ethnic minorities , the UK needs to ensure that demographic is included and that is their concern just now.

FF, thanks for the ref to the JD sports post on DEC - I think that the sentiment expressed is causing the percieved problem ref d2c by the brands. I did think about that sometime ago and decided that the brands could not afford to open enough retail outlets themselves to get the footfall they need - so not a big threat atm and in any vent the brands trade on a multiple many times that of JD to reflect that risk. Still worth a read - if only to help explain the current languishing sp.
Dave, thinking about this further , if the offer was 160 and the required price was 180 the gap , at 20p is less than 10% , surely there is a deal to be done?
RE: Here goes for easy candy of MMs25 Jan 2024 08:54
TD, why would this sp recover to 160p? Once the analysts work out that it is more profitable than next, growing faster than next and becoming a worldwide brand they might want to at least give it a mcap like next. IMV the difference is a proven Lord Woolfson and a newbie foreigner.
FF after the name put the numbers 18071 and bobs your uncle.
RE: Here goes for easy candy of MMs25 Jan 2024 08:47
FF, thanks I will not post my email here as I dont want a ban but like many I use Google , so it is an easy one to derive as it starts with the name of the disgraced kings brother. That is not me btw.
Dug, I think you are too pessimistic about a recovery into the 20s, it just needs one catalyst imv and my guess is the BOD are working on them all. We shall hopefully get news soon. BTW anything from IR yet?
Dave, thanks - we have been here before but third time lucky imv. Added another £5k in expectations nobody will fall for management bs about future value this time around.
RE: Shoddy work from Boeing and Strata24 Jan 2024 15:13
Leapgrog, thanks for the post - a fall caused by a downgrade , written by people of varying credibility , is about the best explanation for a sp fall and gives me confidence that the sp will recover soon.
Bankrupt, I would not want to be short here - if you have researched past fund raising the last one was at a premium and news could drop anytime. Good luck but if I was in profit I would close out and think I was lucky!
CJ39, one that is different is MSI, the same directors have been running it for around 35 years and a 'son' is lined up to takeover in due course. They have millions in the bank and are hugely profitable. IMV it is still on aim to allow it to be passed on free of IHT when the time comes . Solid honest business but zero communications outside 6 monthly reports!
RE: Here goes for easy candy of MMs24 Jan 2024 14:29
FF, great plan but don't the brokers adjust the 'short price' when the shares go ex divi?
from google;
What happens to dividends when shorting?
Short sellers aren't entitled to dividend payments from the shares they've borrowed. In fact, the value of any dividends paid will be deducted from short-seller's account on the pay date and delivered to the stock's owner.9 Aug 2022
Is not much compared to the £5m that Diggle has lost over the last week.I would think the BOD have already had conversations with head hunters. As for Burrows, he said he had spent last week with JP Morgan and I thought that was funding discussions - maybe he was touting his CV around!
