Your comment below, is pertienent I think. I certainly wouldn't discard/TA and charts, but for me (and that's a personal view rather than a general one), TA becomes much more likely to yield strong results, when combined with fundamentals. So I agree that once the SP hits specific levels, TA can be very, very effective at helping you to maximise your chances of profit. It's why avoided this until it hit 320 or below. If I don't wait for very specific levels on good companies, it's much harder for me to make money on the smaller swings. When I do try to do that, my positions are a lot smaller. But off what I consider deep value levels, as long as the liquidity is good, I use very large positions at times.
