I've one word for today's satellite image - speechless!

The new holes, so many of them and a ridiculous cluster in the south-west even further out than the original "Emental Cheese". I nearly missed half of the new activity cos I didn't zoom out enough.

My dream is a decline south west of the Havieron horse-shoe and then two sets of underground operations run off it - one block caving the HAV horseshoe; and the other an underground operation along all the sweetspots on the magnetic anomoly all the way to Scallywag.

Just need another 200km of good drilling cores to make that particular dream come true....

.....and more not so great news relinquishing Irish licences.

And, I like others, hold these shares - still trapped in SVS.

Fingers crossed it doesn't transpire, but the 5th is currently forecast to be mostly cloudy which would thwart our view. I'd love to see another hole near the new one at the north western extremity.

Patience, patience..... May have to wait till the 10th.

And ironically the weather forecast is consistently below 40 Deg C for the whole of the upcoming week - the first time in months. Just at the time they have (quite correctly) halted all Scallywag cultural works, recognising the potential risk to the Martu people of a viral infection.

Have just looked at an Oz weather website that seems to imply, if I'm reading the numbers right, that the whole of March's daytime temperatures at Telfer were a good 3 or 4 deg C above normal. Sticking in the low 40Cs pretty much throughout the entire month to date.

I bet this un-ending heat has delayed any Scallywag first drilling announcement. Not delayed any of the planning of course, just delaying the "go". Some time in April was supposedly the start date when the weather had cooled sufficiently.

More patience required before we discover if Scallywag is "just a lump of granite" which is a distinctly possible scenario - not that you'd be able to tell from some of the ramping nonsense on here.

I've just caught up with the all the weekend posts on here and most of it was the good quality of old; the weekdays appear to now be filled by hoardes spouting endless drivel to each other.

Oooh, thanks PG - missed that post in the midst of busy busy busy. The bit I describe as mid-West new drill pad preparation is the middle one of the three blue rings on your second picture - I thought two not just one new pad close together.

Must admit I droolled over Artemis's drone photo when I first saw it, specially when I noticed the date on the caption - 10th March. Nearly made it my new wallpaper picture on my smartphone.... But thought I'd restrain myself and wait for the drone footage of the first sign of the surface collapsing in on itself after a few years of block caving. Patience, patience....

On a second look at the latest image I wondered if they were preparing for more new holes in the "mid-West". I have to call it mid-West cos it ain't in the Emental cheese of the SW cluster and it ain't in the north west in the midst of all the different mottled colours of the outback terrain. There is one hole currently on its own in the west about midway between the most northerly and southerly drill holes. I thought they may have been preparing two new drill pads within 100m to the west.

Someone got a bigger screen and better eyesight than me?

Transportation will take 14 days plus the time to travel across country. I would imagine whoever is going to drive the rigs across a swathe of Western Oz is going to spend 14 days in self isolation to prove they are virus free and then they will start what must be an epic cross country journey. NC are possibly asking for volunteers now - those who are willing to self isolate for the 14 days and then go in to HAV and not come back till restrictions are lifted. I can imagine the drilling crew will also drive the rigs..... No idea how far it us. Darwin to Kunanurra was an overnight bus journey on a tarmaced road I did many moons ago.

The only sketch models I've seen of declines zig zag down to get to depths where block caving can start for production purposes. Key details are that they are put down where there is no gold/copper, and also far enough away so that when block caving starts and the surface rocks starts collapsing in on itself it doesn't impact the decline.

However there was also talk previously about constructing an exploration decline - basically to avoid having to repeatedly drill through 400m of cover during infill drilling.

I think the far out holes they are now drilling all add useful info for either finding more gold, finding the edge of the gold or working out where a decline could or could not go.

I always presumed they were doing both - trying to define the extents and doing infill - at the mo. We may only get to see new holes which are looking for the edge of the extents. I'm thinking a lot of infill may be happening with "fan" drilling at existing holes.

With 8 rigs I would've thought we'd get signs of four new holes per week if they were all trying to find the boundary. Hence my theory that they are doing both.....

I think stage 3 announcement is a nailed on certainity..... And if the current workforce stays on site self isolating from cv19 then there should be no slowdown in drilling - although conversely no increase in rig count either. Why risk bringing infection into the exploration site with new kit and people.

I'm looking forward to the start of the decline works .....and will be gutted at the same time. It would mark the end of staring at satellite images once every five days trying to track progress.

Am I being too dumb when I wonder about this huge step out to the NW.

They, NC, think something is there from all their other tests and measurements. But to prove something really is there they have to drill a hole. That hole may or may not hit good grades and they will only know which when they get through 400m of cover and start seeing cores. Surely the time to get really excited is if they drill a second hole beside the new NW hole. Similar to the way the SW cluster of drilling has started and then keeps growing.

If the new NW hole draws a blank then there will be no neighbouring holes - which would tell us that our horseshoe hasn't extended out that far.

So when/if a second NW hole appears that will tell us much more than seeing just this one new hole. I'm personally hoping it looks like the Emental cheese that is being created to the SW.

This "run to the hills" mentality is idiotic. The locals who live in the Highlands are all to aware about how distant good experienced medical care can be. My father when he was in his later years needed more medical attention - a 40 mile round trip to see the consultant when the doc was doing his day a fortnight in the closest hospital. And then 120 miles one way to see a specialist urgently turned into 170 miles one way cos the one and only specialist in Inverness was on holiday. Had he been close to a big city that specialism would have had half a dozen consultants covering it.

.......he did recover from that wee scare and had a few more years before he passed away at a riper old age.

I thought it was one every five days? Am I losing track of time? 21st March by my calculations.... Often known to be wrong.

Mercedesman, perhaps you should trim your stock researching time and use it to read something about public health and infection control from history. Desperate measures - communal graves and ditching the (rich country luxury) of autopsies - is one of the most effective measures you have to stop more people dying. Being a democracy we have at least bothered with the nicety of publishing the existence of the new (emergency) legislation; and theoretically had a vote in parliament..... Even if our first past the post system is, I believe, deeply flawed.

I am horrified watching Italian events and believe the UK is likely to blunder along the same path - the number of fit young and healthy doctors dying from the disease should be thought about before anyone complains they've run out of milk for their cornflakes or can't be bothered with social distancing / self isolation / lockdown quarantine.

If we collectively don't do the first easier steps to modify our behaviour then more draconian measures have to be imposed - and I agree with you, they will be imposed in the UK, simply when not if.

Thanks PG, am more curious about the light stripes cos some of them seem to start to the south of NC's camp and extend into the north - which definitely crosses over our territory. Maybe some kind of aerial survey? Which is terrifyingly low to the ground if it has kicked up the dust into streaks!

Hydrogen, I thought it was evidence of possible survey works there were so many of them over a good chunk of ground.

OT any chance you can look at the area north of the NC camp? I see newly appeared lighter streaks from about 1km to west and 1 km to east running north to south generally, they extend to about 4km north of the camp. Wonder if it's Scallywag activity.....

Idly scrolled over to Scallywag on the latest image...... Or what I think is Scallywag.

Can anyone else see a collection of generally faint but brighter than the background lines running mainly north south? Seems to be in the area north of the NC camp. Starting 1000m to the west of the camp and similar to the east. Must go about 4km to the north. Thought it may have been wind / dust but nowhere else in the region with similar terrain has these marks.

First bit of serious GGP exploration action starting up? But of work to see what is actually out there on the ground prior to fixing drill sites.
