Mercedesman, perhaps you should trim your stock researching time and use it to read something about public health and infection control from history. Desperate measures - communal graves and ditching the (rich country luxury) of autopsies - is one of the most effective measures you have to stop more people dying. Being a democracy we have at least bothered with the nicety of publishing the existence of the new (emergency) legislation; and theoretically had a vote in parliament..... Even if our first past the post system is, I believe, deeply flawed.
I am horrified watching Italian events and believe the UK is likely to blunder along the same path - the number of fit young and healthy doctors dying from the disease should be thought about before anyone complains they've run out of milk for their cornflakes or can't be bothered with social distancing / self isolation / lockdown quarantine.
If we collectively don't do the first easier steps to modify our behaviour then more draconian measures have to be imposed - and I agree with you, they will be imposed in the UK, simply when not if.
