I think the third or fourth bullet point in the 8th June RNS spells out they are still waiting for heritage approval for drilling Scallywag.

The mining deal just speeds up future cooperation between GGP & NC only, but doesn't bypass the need for the Martu's scrutiny of the area.

Don't recall seeing heritage approval being mentioned anywhere? Have I been spending too much time in the garden and not enough online reading about GGP? Did I miss somehting?

The 8th June RNS specifically says Scallywag exploration is still "pending heritage approval".

A quick rummage on Sentinel does indicate that Value_Seeker's blue spot on the most recent nocturnal image is still within NC's (and hence HAV) tenements - within 1472n by my fairly inept reading of lat / long and converting into eastings and northings.

And a quick look at GGPs website showing Scallywag MMI on top of gravity and magnetic surveys make me believe no-one would bother doing a first hole there - there are much juicier targets further west!

I had a look at the blue dot on the nocturnal image west of the HAV field camp (very nice marked up pictures by the way, easy to see what you were highlighting), and looked at a few previous nocturnal images for comparison.

I'm not yet convinced. Blue signals are less definitive as compared to green in my opinion. And random blues, admittedly fainter, do crop up on previous images in that part of the Outback.

Very hard to tell to be honest. Some nocturnal images are absolutely pitch black and others every single rock and puddle seem to sparkle.

If there is consistent activity in/around that part of the desert over three or four images including daylight then we can say things are moving forward with exploration.

I'm also doubtful because I would've thought heritage approval from the Martu and the start of any exploration drilling by GGP would merit a RNS. It would have to be a GGP announcement too, not NC. GGP may well borrow the luxurious HAV field facilities for their guys working on new drilling instead of living in a tent within view of air conditioned portacabins and fridges full of ice but I can imagine GGP are going to have to go to Scallywag with their own drilling rig.

Navigation - open a paddy link on sentinel hub in one browser and then a separate browser for planet. Search for Telfer's mine on planet. Zoom out slowly on paddy sat until you see Telfer on the left. Telfer? Big man made circle and kilometres of deep hole. Zoom in on Planet until you have a similar picture. Go back to original paddy link if you get lost and zoom out again.

I ended up at Port Hedland when trying to get my eye in spotting HAV from a satellite image. There are very distinctive grey rocks (northern end is black hills) to the west / left.

Locked images - one will always be available on that date - just click on it.

Dates - top left of screen has a Dates tab so you can select a range to choose from.

Planet is free for 14 days. Didn't bother working out a cost beyond that.....

Had things to do outdoors to stay sane as I am trapped indoors at a laptop all day....

Finally got my Planet registration to work - Chrome worked, IE didn't. Had a rummage around HAV and the archive of images.

Planet is fairly easy to use and has a handy catalogue of daily images you can pick on the left hand side of the screen. There are more than just those avaialbale via Sentinel, however there seemed to be fuzziness on many images (not just clouds) and the occasional crisper image - and the crisper ones seemed to be the dates when Sentinel has images. Couldn't find nocturnal images on Planet, nor how to change the filter to anything else away from true colour.

Tried to see if any of the far flung random drilling north of the field camp (22nd Oct) and half way to our northern neighbours who are keen on "nearology" (15th Nov) visible on the nocturnal, were visible on Planet. Not according to my judgement was the answer, although with latitude and longitude to only two decimal places and not the 5 of Sentinel you are left with a huge potential area to view on Planet.

Planet is also handier for measuring things without registering. Not too sure how accurate the results are. There comes a time when I can't spend my entire evening chained to a laptop. So my comparison stops here.

Lab restests and Victor Meldrew - no way. Lab tests work with the samples from the field mixed with deliberate blanks and calibrated known gold samples, alongside putting in doubles from the field samples - all tested blind by the person in the lab. If blanks don't read zero and the known golds don't hit their known numbers they would use another gold measuring machine and get the first checked for calibration.

.....and that high salary is why their jobs are being automated with driverless trucks now often being used to carry ore the relatively short and repeated trip out of open pits. Every vehicle controlled from one location by someone who didn't realise their gaming skills of a "miss-spent yoof" would lead to a job.

At least until AI takes over completely.

Nocturnal (radar, nod to AM90) ain't due until 18th June on Sentinel. Unless someone knows of another source? And the 18th won't be loaded up, if the website begins to behave again until the 19th.

South-west looks as ambitious in terms of spacing as the north-west with those four new holes. More step out drilling?

I thought we had a couple of those original SW holes reported in the last formal NC update mid April? Then it went all quiet (apart from the pretty 3d behind Callum Baxter's right shoulder).....

I do like the slider tool to help on comparisons before / after..... Must educate myself to know how to do that.

Just so you know, I've switched the satellite's power socket off , counted to ten and switched it back on again. Hopefully today's picture will be with us soon after that reboot.

Declines......

I'd presumed they'd be wide enough to take two mining trucks side by side plus space to pass. Last time I saw a human stood next to a mining truck the truck itself was heading for 20m wide!

The decline cannot be too steep a gradient or the trucks will struggle to get back up the hill...... And verge on uncontrollable on the way down.

Id also presume that the decline would be a decent distance away from anywhere they are going to be block caving. The technique relies on the rock structure collapsing in on itself so the last thing you'd want is to put a decline too close to the ore you are trying to remove.

All of this leads me to hope the far out south west drilling is for working out where a decline could go.

When you talk about the flurry of activity in the south-west and the timings I pressume you are talking about beyond the dune bridge. It was indeed curious, mainly because of the sudden activity, a density of holes that seemed to mirror the original south-west cluster before the bridge , but it all then promptly ceased.

The most recent two holes well spaced out on the last image between this cluster and the south end of the bridge are making me think they might be planning a decline. Much as I'd love them to find gold everywhere they drill my second prize would be seeing a decline to the south / south-west only because it could double up as the decline for the south end (and the deeper bits) of Scallywag.

Not too sure if they would only drill 300 or 400m just to get through the cover for planning a decline. Maybe they went to 5 or 600m and found radically different (non gold bearing) geology that made them stop drilling to 1,500m.

The decline of course will be seriously bad news - no more satellite updates to scrutinize. What shall we do....?

Anticipate lots of Solgold action. I find as soon as I give up on a share that has stalled for ages and sell up, all sorts of action (and price rises) happen without me on board.

Utilising the "Strudel Theory on How Long it Takes to Drill a 1,500m Deep Hole", today's satellite image will not have much signs of new activity. I reckoned we were getting into a cycle of nothing new / heaps of new activity between consecutive images, and presumed it takes more than five days (time between images) to drill a 1,500m deep hole. Hence the pattern.

Happy to be completely wrong on this as it would liven up a Sunday and provide an excuse not to be doing garden type things.

My theory also may be rapidly unravelling as the interims indicated drilling up to four holes fanning out from the same spot, with naming going up to "w4" as far as I could make out.

Next image on the 19th should be good as it will arrive at almost the same time as the nocturnal (radar) image from the 18th - although the underlying data will be several hours apart.

Other point about choosing a broker - don't choose one where your debt (mortgage, car etc) are with the same underlying institution as your investments. When push comes to shove they will use one to pay off the other.

"Push and shove" are more likely to appear as the world dips into a state that may resemble the Great Depression of the early 20th century.

I have used many brokers over the years. Selftrade decided I couldn't buy Tesco so I dumped them.
SVS were closed by the FCA.
X-O are the "Formica table tops" of trading.
HL annoyed me yesterday, unable to buy GGP all afternoon whereas AJBell got me a chunk no bother.
Interactive investor having a confusing site but will refund your trading costs against their monthly charges and you can buy international shares.
And Charles Stanley are just frustrating with buy and sell orders only valid for a day.
Online reviews, specially since lockdown have trashed many brokers ratings. I'm probably going to open another account for the shares liberated from SVS' debris - and want something that I can set up and ignore on a web page with 90 day buy and sell limits rather than only via an app.
I do have a life to get on with after all.....

HL went to "No Quote", and offered Fill or Kills (which also all failed) all afternoon in an ISA despite picking the buy price of all the recent trades.
