Inquiry Launch
How the UK’s hydrogen sector can help support economic recovery
The APPG on Hydrogen, has today launched an inquiry into how the UK’s Hydrogen sector can help support the UK’s economic recovery.
The Covid-19 pandemic has had a serious impact on the UK’s economy and the APPG is looking to explore what potential opportunities hydrogen creates in order to contribute towards rebuilding a green economy. This could involve the creation of highly skilled jobs in the energy sector as well as supporting the UK’s net-zero targets as we emerge from the crisis.
The APPG’s call for evidence will look at what steps need to be taken to ensure that hydrogen is part of the solution to a greener future.
The APPG is inviting written submissions to inform this inquiry. Submissions should be a maximum of two pages and submitted HERE.
It should focus on but not be limited to:
• Hydrogen’s existing and potential roles in different sectors – heat, transport etc.
• The short-term and long-term approach towards a hydrogen economy – the need for both green and blue hydrogen
• Distribution and storage of hydrogen
• Hydrogen’s potential to support and create growth, employment and upskilling opportunities in the UK
• How hydrogen can help the UK meet its net-zero targets
• What steps should be taken to ensure the UK becomes a world leader in hydrogen technology
The APPG is also requesting case studies, statistics and any practical examples of research or studies undertaken on how hydrogen benefits jobs, skills, the economy and will contribute to net-zero.
The deadline for written submissions is Friday 12 June at 17:00
