Some decent buys coming in at 4.7p as well. Is it just speculation or are we seeing a wee leak?

Pecten11 - I think that AP was having to repeat what was already in the public domain vis a vis BP. I don't think that he could have given that material news (i.e. that it was profitable ahead of target) without an RNS. He did say though that he couldn't wait to announce Q1 performance.
I'd be interested in what your outlook is now and whether you hold again??

The next news should be confirmation that VAST are in possession of the diamonds and then the valuation. The first should come this week... could be today.
It would be good to get the RNS on re-starting mining for diamonds in Zim this week too or some comment from AP on where the discussions are at... they've been talking for months now.

Well AP has already made around £25K on paper from his participation in the placing this morning... it's clear now that he timed the results announcement last week so that he would be free to invest before the RNS's this week... can't criticise him for this.
Really looking forward to the big news about re-starting mining for diamonds in Zim and getting those other opportunities going.

Very interested to see what other opportunities that VAST have in Zim... The diamond mine seems to cover a large area... I wonder what else is in there?

Acker - I seem to be attracted to basket-cases run by, apparently, really poor CEOs!!! One has come good (PREM) with plenty more to come and one is going to come good (VAST).

Pecten - I do respect your view. What's your outlook now?

We shouldn't be surprised but I'm always disappointed when there is a placing. To some extent, who would blame him after last week's rise in sp.
AP's participation shows some confidence though... that is good news!

Fantasy - I could have written a similar piece about another CEO on AIM a year or two ago (GR at PREM)... I would have described him as the worst CEO on AIM... but he's now being hailed a bit of genius because he's on the cusp of delivering millions of profit per month due to a small investment by the Chinese. PREM's SP has already multi-bagged and it's possible that it could multi-bag again this year.
I think that AP is going to oversee a similar transformation at Vast... I reckon his reputation will look quite different in a year's time.
Pecten11 - I'm well aware of the cash call at the end of Oct 22.

Some excellent posts today... thanks to all who are doing the research.

A couple of points from me -

Vast only had a cash balance of US$0.604 million at the end of October and had been losing $1 million per month before that... one would have expected a cash call prior to the year end but there has been no cash call which suggests to me that they're at least breaking even, if not making a profit already. I can't emphasise enough that Vast has been priced to fail... this is now not going to happen.

'other opportunities in Zimbabwe' - Zimbabwe is a very different place to 2010 (not perfect but a lot different) and they need foreign investment and they need to undo the damage that Mugabe did. I'm expecting a JV announcement on diamonds but I wouldn't be surprised if there are other significant opportunities on top of this... the country has big ambitions.

Could be the turnaround story of 2023. After last year's pretty despicable action by Atlas, I'm glad to see some good news for AP... perseverance is an underrated virtue!

The diamonds were valued at around $18m back in 2010. Diamond prices have risen by about 30% since then so we're looking at something closer to $24m. Perhaps, there's a few high value stones in there too.

Prior to the news, Vast was priced to fail... the $24m clearly means that it's not going to fail and there will be plenty of good news to follow.

There's been no cash call (as many have predicted) and I think BP is now breaking even... soon to make a profit.

Each positive piece of news to come (and there will be a stream of news in the coming days/weeks) will shift the sp higher. Yesterday's price movement was down to a combination of traders taking their profit (nothing wrong with that) and fear. It's going to be an interesting ride over the next few months but the general trajectory will be a steep rise. AIMHO.

Excellent points - as I said earlier, VAST was priced to fail. That's definitely off the cards. Zimbabwe is a different country compared to 10 years ago... the agreement to release the diamonds was 'amicable' and I can see an announcement very soon to formalise the JV spoken about a few years ago.
In my eyes, VAST now becomes a potential takeover target too... the Chinese are all over Zim throwing money at all sorts of projects.

Traders should be back soon for the bounce back. Personally, I'm in at least for the rest of this year... which promises to be very exciting.
