Strictly, getting house back on par with 1992-2002 is totally different to modern times as in the 90’s it was still more expensive to buy than to rent and more rental properties were available.
I have said for a long time the government needs to bring in rent controls to stop these buy to let people pushing first time buyers out of the market. As rents are far more expensive than mortgages so in modern times most people are forced to buy. If rent controls were brought in and rents dropped below mortgages why would you rush to buy ?
