The bid-ask is sometimes more than 6%. On small cap shares you see much larger up and down movement than for a FTSE share. If you see all trades in a list, it looks a lot more normal.

Doesn't that mean they will both go up 8x closing price? BZT 0.38 to 3.00 and UFO 1.375 to 11

Also a 1.3m share trade went through at 41.2 after the close.

I'm very happy with my holding in the share and confident it will rise considerably over time.

However, can the super-rampers please calm down a little. Shouting BOOM!, OMG 10-bagger and amazing next week! is only going to put off any serious person looking at this share. Just give people some facts about the company and they will make the right decision.

Based on current L2, price could go up or down fairly quickly, but MM usually add new bid/ask in that situation.

The publication is owned by Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the article was written by an associate editor who is entirely focused on cryptocurrencies and blockchains. So I doubt he is 'ignorant' on the subject. Also, I'm not sure you can class Ethereum as a 'tiny alt coin', given it has the second largest crypto market cap after bitcoin.

In any event, I doubt anything I say would change your mind but I wasn't trying to. I was just presenting an alternative view for anyone thinking about crypto. As always I suggest people do their own research and don't believe anything at face value, including what I say :)

My main advice for buying shares is Do Your Own Research! Start with the company website and read about all the projects. Learn how to read drilling reports and some basic geology. Look into the board members and their past experience. Learn about the market and any major concerns. Learn about the location of the project and any potential political issues. Look at past RNS and see whether they were subsequently correct or proved over-optimistic.

Bulletin boards like this can be very useful for tips on what to research, but don't take what people say at face value. They may want you to buy or sell for their own benefit and their advice is skewed with that in mind. Listen, but verify.

You also need to decide what level of risk you are prepared to accept. If you are prepared to lose the lot, then you can take high risk-reward decisions. If you need to be cautious, then looks for shares with little or no obvious downside.

I understand the blockchain technology behind bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies and it is very impressive. However, two things concern me for the long term.

Firstly, understanding the value of bitcoin (the effort required in decryption) is not straightforward and it will only ever be understood by a tiny minority of the population. Most people don't tend to buy things they can't understand, so I am not convinced it will ever be mainstream.

Secondly, no matter how well something is encrypted, it always gets decrypted in the end. At some point, a combination of a sufficiently advanced computer and smart people is going to crack it.

Now, it may still be worth investing in crypto due to the greater fool theory, but I have to decide on priorities and I would rather invest in something material that almost anyone can understand.

So glad I live in the Isle of Man where we don't have capital gain tax or inheritance tax and the top income tax rate is 20%.

Best way of stifling an economy is high tax. Easier option for governments is to generate high inflation, pushing up wages and prices and reducing relative size of debt.
