THG is a very volatile stock and Friday's gains were always likely to be given up on no news.

having said that it is clear ecom pure plays are starting to perform, with asos last week, and music magpie today.

I have sent 3 emails to THG IR asking for a trading update end of this quarter, highlighting waiting until mid sept is too long esp with the dire SP, and highlighting they do a Q1, Q3 and Q4 circa 3 weeks after the Q closes, so why not a Q2.

of course i have heard nothing back (they really are rude/ arrogant/ incompetent) - if i do get a reply i will share here

THG reports 'adjusted' EBITDA so bare that in mind. in previous years the adjustments were huge wheras they plan only 15m in 2023.

The Iceland X mypro range is utterly fantastic. great products, great range, great partnership between both sides, and love the instore activations and also the extension to gyms.

also great that all product development/ manufacture costs sit with Iceland so its pure ebitda to THG.

Will also have a positive help effect on wider mypro range

whey prices are also half what they were a year ago, putting THG nutrition in a very healthy position.

on the ohter side, its a shame how badly margins were handled by Rachel Horsefield last year, but good to see she lost her job cos of it and was replaced by Lucy Gorman, who has clearly done an excellent job with Nutrition

The ice creams are produced by ,and IP of, Iceland. MyPro has given the exclusive frozen licensing, so doubt Iceland would agree to this. THG are not the product owner, but this is good as the money they make is pure ebitda.

He is categorically not independent, should not be on the remuneration committee, and should not be re-elected or even nominated for re-election having been on the board for 13 years - way way longer than is seen as good practice.

THG cannot go on with business as normal, as they have a well founded reputation of over promising/ under delivering; they need to offer shareholders something material to drive SP value such as a JV for nutrition with a big FMCG.

UK ecom retail is one of the most hated places for global investors currently. over time this may change, but it is the job of the directors to help unlock share holder value and a drop from 500p to 62p in less than 3 years is not a good example of this

Good news for me would be:

1/ THG doing an equity share JV with a big offline distributor to nail retail listings in US/ Asia

2/ reducing reliance on ecom more for sales (inc massive retail listings worldwide through distributors/ more Iceland style deals)

latest retail data UK shows ecom sales falling 3.3%, albeit lifestyle grew 0.7% which hopefully is where THG play

but they cannot continue with business as normal, ecom pure play - that world died with covid

THG better deliver solid growth in H1 update as the number of job openings is getting back to the frothy heights. always had concerns they cannot manage input costs esp admin and marketing
