A bit of education if you please. At about 3:00 on today's and yesterday's intraday share price graph looks like a seismograph recording a major earthquake with the price oscillatingthrough large price changes by the minute. What is happening to have such an effect on the price?

Bit like me. Had paper from 87 onwards. They kept changing the Company name..holdings, plc etc. A mass of paper grew and got confused at times as to which certificate was current. Gave up and went electronic.

So its to just exceed expectations for the quarter. Stock market happy. If you smash expectations for the quarter the stock market will expect even more in the next quarter. Stock market unhappy.

Sounds very similar to me. Bought first shares when originally floated, 1987. Increased them over the years through sharesSaves, workbonus payments and salary sacrifices [both tax and NI]. Price has been all over the place since 1987 plus further omplicated by having paper certificates in the beginning and electronic for the later shares

I moved them all to a new broker and then transferred half to the missus. The book price got all mixed up during the moves and transfers .All sitting in an isa now. The missus is always on me to sell some.

I don't tell her how much they have gone up nowadays and I get my ear bent a bit about selling them. BTW. I'm 69, so maybe I should listen to her.

I haven't been clever I've just been bl**dy lucky. I hope it continues.

Can't agree more . I remember John Rishton when he was in charge going through a buy back. Splat 500 million and the share price kept falling. He was ousted before he splatted another 500 million that was ear-marked for buyback. Rishton was disastrous as a RR MD

On the 31st of next month the basic question of all companies will be answered. "How much money is being made, what's the debt level and what's the profit?"
