Haggis- don’t forget Acciona, Mace, Juelich updates and of course demo to Prince Charles!
Totally agree B&S.
One positive I gleaned from the interview was 1.55mins into the interview “the actual building of the technology is not as long as that “ when discussing early’23. It could be that the solid cells are more advanced than we think and our other partners could in fact switch to the solid cells? Or, as you state, they could progress with the liquid cell in the interim. It’s the many clients that ABB have worldwide that has resulted in early ‘23 delivery for ABB.
As ever, too many questions left unanswered after such a long news vacuum. I hope Mr Bond fulfils his multi order potential for H2 ‘21. Delivery of those orders may or may not be in ‘23 dependent on whether solid cell delivery can start in ‘22 for Mace/Acciona/Juelich or those partners continue with their liquid cell orders.
I hope the expected report provides crystal clear clarification to ALL shareholders and partners/clients.
DW are you Geta ?
Gitfinger- so the Extreme E delivery was not a commercial order? It’s been used in anger to generate clean energy and highlights how AFCs tech can be used in remote and extreme locations all around the globe. Indeed the next race will be in the Uk on a military site and should further showcase the tech in a military context. Not only a commercial order but an incredible piece of marketing for AFC fuel cells?
What about the Acciona, Mace and Juelich orders …not commercial orders? We await progress updates on these and we know Mace have responded positively to yesterday’s ABB news despite Mace ordering the liquid cell.
Yesterday’s ABB order isn’t a commercial order either? Yes it’s for the new solid cell but we also have no reason to suspect that ABB will not be interested in the liquid cell as well as the solid cell.
We also await news on alkamem- can we assume ABBs order yesterday provides a massive vote of confidence in alkamem? Looking good to me.
Then of course we are expecting news on electrolysis and ammonia cracking.
All in all, there’s a massive amount going on and we’re due updates on all of the above as well as the anticipation of further H2 sales news.
Yes, I am as frustrated as the next person with the share price not moving to where we’d like it to be I.e our broker fair values but they’ve not put a date on that and I think we should give Bond an opportunity to provide news flow during H2 ‘21.
Great to see our Chairman showing repeated confidence in AFC.
Haha. Thanks BumbleB2. Wishful thinking and a long day :)
Mucksy- just catching up on all the posts after a long drive from Scotland to Bristol. As I intimidated this morning, there are opportunities for both the liquid and the solid cells. Just because ABB have secured our first sale of the high density solid cell today does not necessarily mean that they are not interested in the liquid cell. ABB will have many and varied prospects that could involve both liquid and solid cell versions depending on space/price limitations. ABBs investment today validates the new technology AFC has developed and has accelerated the tech to 200mw. This provides us and other potential customers with a massive boost in confidence. :)
Excellent news today! I don’t see that anyone can deny this. AFC have solutions in place to address decarbonisation whether that is via the current liquid cell or via the accelerated solid cell. There will no doubt be price differences for both technologies allowing multiple revenue streams going forward, as well as differing applications for both types. I’m sure we have a base for further exciting news ahead.
Well done everyone at AFC!
DW you seem to forget that US didn’t allow foreign travel into the US. Also, ABB were more than capable to present AFCs tech as part of an integrated ABB charger. And, given that AB would have known for many weeks that a demonstration to HRH PoW at COP26 was a far better use of his time. The demo in Glasgow would have taken a huge amount of organisation to get the FC into the compound under massive security. This was a massive PR coup for AFC and, given your constant moaning about lack of PR, you seem to have forgotten all of this very quickly!
AB can hardly be accused of sitting on his backside. Get real please!
Yes, for years I’m sure you said you lived in Switzerland DW. I often used to correct people that were critical of your written English.
And COP takes place over 2 weeks, so plenty of time to release an update or coordinate release of any other news alongside the talks/presentations they’re having.

Item 2 will certainly benefit AFC.

FUD248 - the only waste from an AFC fuel cell is water.
It might have escaped your attention, but water does not need to be hidden underground for hundreds of years while that particular waste is made safe.
In addition, we don’t have to wait 30/40 years to build an AFC power station that is guaranteed to produce clean and safe energy.
DW - “ they willpurely help and produce the membrane,”
De Nora has nothing to do with our membrane as far as I’m aware, it’s the electrodes they help AFC with?
Not like you to put a negative spin on this. De Nora remain very positive it seems.
FCI yes this is great but someone had to ask “ What methods are being used to charge these vehicles with no infrastructure around? Nowhere in these broadcasts do they show us the viewers how this is accomplished?”
Seems people are interested in understanding the behind the scenes and maybe ExE should be pushing the tech that’s on site to power the cars and infrastructure there. It’s good to highlight the climate issues but let’s push the solutions that are here right now.
I don’t disagree with the idea of an an independent assessment BB2. I thought of you whilst watching the latest Bond movie on Wednesday. The number of natural sites messed around as a result of filming must be incredible yet these are unrealised. At least ExE are highlighting these issues albeit to a limited audience?
I don’t disagree Haggis but you can sense ABs frustration when Gov can’t even think to ensure we have a clean charging solution in place for the COP talks. A little bit of research would have provided a massive opportunity to clearly show there are solutions here right now and it’s British to boot.
Gov will not directly favour individual companies as part of any plans. A lot can happen to companies such as AFC between now and 2035.
AFC can go it alone in the meantime with the great partners already announced and for those partners to react to climate change legislation accordingly.
Boy do we need some news but equally I’m buoyed by the partners we have in place and the ongoing recruitment taking place.
