Disagree FX, you don't just put an ad in the local paper for a new CEO.

AR is old school and a cautious operator. He wants someone of the right calibre as it reflects on him. It takes time firstly to find the right person, then to negotiate terms.

Personally think that its being held to coincide with the appointment of a new CEO. They can then talk about it being the way forward and how they are going to get to phase 1, rather than discuss now and leave nothing for the new CEO to identify with moving forward.
Also, like it or not, they will be discussing options packages with the prospective CEO and need to make it attractive.

Alternatively they could have gone for bigger news knowing the sp would fall back over time, but at least achieving a higher average.

Or, my thought is that they are playing the long game. The Lanstead deal is over 20 months, any whilst you may lose out in the first one or two, as long as you win across the entire duration then its ok.

Its more in their interest to provide a stream of news to try and keep the sp bouyant. I think thats why they release the Oxilio - Quotient news even though it didn't really involve NFX in any way. Also they would have hoped the DG appointment may have helped drive a bit of sp action.

Lanstead base how much they give to NFX on the 20 day average shareprice prior to the settlement date. At the minute its around 1.05p, so even with a spike it might not average over 2p to give full payment.

The key point with the article is that it is treating post Covid complications, in this case Pulmonary Fibrosis caused by post Covid pneumonia.
As the article states, about a third of people who survive strong cases of Covid have these problems.
That’s a lot of cases out there that require treatment.

Speaking of Covid related stuff. Here is a very interesting research piece from Japan just released, showing that they treated a chap with tranilast who had severe post Covid problems, and they all cleared up and he was on his way.

Bet they wished they had an inhaled version to hand!

“ A 62-year-old man, an ex-smoker, with severe pneumonia after COVID-19 was transferred to our hospital for rehabilitation after 20 days of acute-phase treatment with nasal high-flow oxygenation and oral corticosteroids. …

Treatment with the oral antifibrotic agent tranilast (600mg t.i.d.) was initiated. Subsequently, the oxygen demand decreased, and the patient was discharged from our hospital with no need for supplemental oxygen. Chest CT performed at two months after the initiation of trainlast therapy revealed remarkable amelioration of lung fibrosis (Fig 1 C, D).

Pulmonary fibrosis and respiratory function improved remarkably in this patient with post-COVID-19 severe pneumonia after six months of treatment with tranilast. Thus, tranilast could be a candidate for treating post-COVID-19 organizing pneumonia.“
