And conversely if CEY goes up, gold will follow and vice versa. I see both heading up until June and we have the pandemic under some kind of control.

It is amusing to see Cey popping in and out of the top 200 shares, in the Sunday Times each week, into the 190’s and then out again. Today however it is up to 171, the highest for a long time, as other shares have fallen much more. Good old Cey. Fres also up the list, but Hoc which is only in the ftse350 must be way down.
On another note great to hear from Prof as ever, I too did a single sell of a small parcel, a couple of weeks ago, and bought back slightly lower making £600 which I have used to buy a battery tool kit with the aim of doing lots of mending and making jobs while stuck at home. I too bought back far too soon as they then tumbled. However better than what I have done before, sell then shares shoot up and frightened into buying back before they tumble again. So on the whole I don’t trade, as overall this is a losing strategy for most people. But happy with my tool kit, other than now I may have to use it.

I, like Mr Tibbles, disagree Tornado T. At current gold price, and with lower cost of oil, Cey should be making around $750 an ounce. Even if we have nasty results, when they finally come, and production fell back to say an annual 480k Oz,that would still be £150,000 profit for us, a PE of just 10 and a super high yield. And if we ar not hit by another warning and productions as expected.....wow. I am known as a Jeremiah but Cey is currently the most undervalued I have known it, with the double positive of rising prices and falling costs, unless you expect gold to fall back quite a bit, and the mine to be closed for months or oil to soar back. Imho

In comparison, the seasonal flu has an infection rate of 1.3 percent." a. this is so far, the epidemiologists (scientists predict this will rise to 60-80%. Morbidity in Italy currently 10% but say there are 3 times more unreported cases would say 3% which seems about right, which gives 1.2 million deaths in UK, or 7 million in USA. The final figure is likely to be considerably lower here thanks to the measures just taken. That is Statista, but he media has turns this into human stories, most people wouldn't listen to or read statista. We need more of them to worry people more as said.
On another nots statistsa is also very useful on gold which seems finally to be cheering up. I very much miss Uncertain as I would love to know his opinion on whether there is a dead cat in the box, and whether this is a dead cat bounce or for real.
Finally I have been so heartened by the decency and caring natures of so many people round here who take it seriously and want to help and protect their elderly neighbours, and of so many on this board. I just hope that Covid brings out more of the best.

I get very sad at Trump and Bannon's success in tarnishing the main stream media, from the BBC to the Financial Times and New York Times. Sadly I think that although the media have reported the facts clearly, their reporting and even more the government PR machine has been insufficient in creating anxiety, did you see the pictures of huge crowds everywhere from Snowdon to Richmond. Do you remember the AIDS tombstone ads of the 1980's that made everyone scared and careful and worked. Yes several friends of yours may have mild symptom, the majority do, however in Italy over 9% of those recorded as contracting it have died, many hundreds of under 70's have died already. Far more die if there are too many for hospitals to treat as a result of people's irresponsibility to society. I just pray that the press arouses sufficient anxiety, that you become worried by it before too many of your friends die. Sorry to write so strongly about this but every post, blog and chat that underplays the risk contributes to death, and it has been horrifying to walk street markets this weekend seeing people out killing others because they don't care or the media hasn't made them sufficiently anxious.

Your figures are from the last not the future sadly and getting much worse. We are rapidly gaining on Italy, we are now only 2 or 3 weeks behind it, and gaining fast as we have not taken stronger measures partly because the public is not frightened as does not understand the true nature of the horror, as so many don’t yet as you, but sadly I think they will when they see the body bags piling up . Already more than twice as many human being have been killed in Italy, than we’re in 9/11, and more than another 600 human yesterday in Italy from Covid19.. You blame the media for reporting those who have contracted the disease and deaths rather than this who haven’t and are alive. Should the media daily have reported figures from 2nd world war saying 47, 053, 726 today, or the day after 9/11 302 million not killed today, but that is not the point, the point is abnormal deaths that the media rightly reports, tho sadly in una insufficiently scary way to stop mass gatherings, judging from round here, Sorry to get a bit grumpy but people who refuse to take it seriously are increasing the spread and thus helping more elderly to be killed, who as a modern decent society we should care about and protect

Yes divergence is growing as silver is absolutely hammered as mainly an industrial metal so demand tumbling, hence Hocschild has collapse (also because its mines have Ben closed, first Peru, then Argentina due to Civid quarantine) while Centamin has held up relatively well. Which might be fortunate as Hochschild is now losing money on every silver ounce mined while Centamin has never mad so much profit (in sterling which counts for us) on each gold ounce.

Gold is within 1% of its sterling all time high
Costs are down 10% because of oil's fall, which is like another 6% on the gold price
So best profits since profit sharing began coming

And Cey is on sale at a third off the price

Yes another has Hoc has closed its main mine. And worst it’s the great gold producer. It is for two weeks now but could be considerably longer. Problem with mines as I said at the start of this. Also reason for collapse as said. On another note TornadoT the young suffer and die too though not so many. And if Covid is all about as they work and socialise not only will some young die, but even old self isolators will need food dentists doctors opticians etc which will mean getting it if it is not limited now, and the idea they should be shut away with none of these often alone the rest of their lives and many die so the young can be better off is ...

So miners already being closed by Covid19, why not as good as gold, and same country as Hoc.. Also Silver is a mainly industrial metal, demand is collapsing, investment buying, just a small part, is so far not making up for this, hence the silver price. With the tumble Hoc is only a third in silver, but losing money on every ounce - maybe lucky for the forecast production cut. This cut has also pushed up th AISC making them an expensive miners in gold and silver. If PM’s fell another 10%, which in these days of big moves would be easy, Hoc would actually be loss making. Hence the price which is not unfair. Put another way silver was nearly half production at price a months ago. Silver falls a third, means 100% fall in silver profits, meaning shares should halve, and that is before the fall in gold, so actually they haven’t done as badly as they might.
