Chancer,the EU are applying selective tariff to a single country on selective products neither will effect the consumers ability to purchase alternatives at a better price/quality(motorbikes,blue jeans,bourbon).
Unilateral free trade is madness,we open our doors yet the rest of the world close theirs.
I thought the idea post brexit was to go out there and get bilateral trade agreements with US,Austrailia,Brazil etc??

I'm not against globalism,it has raised everyones standard of living however what needs to change is these companies should be dealt with on the same level playing field as domestic companies.The US treats these companies firmly prehaps too firmly at times and until now the UK/EU has been soft but recently the EU has firmed up with the "FANG's".Would the UK have taken on these companies by itself??

You can argue the merits or not of "just in time management" but even i didn't realise how tied up with continental Europe the food industry has become.
I cannot see us spending less on food if the pound declines,and/or we have to keep massive stockpiles in the future.

JMO,i would feel the trade war will be over by October what with US mid term elections.
Tariffs on finished goods always have a bigger effect on consumers especially discretionary purchases.If i had been thinking about buying a Harley and nothing else then i think i would be inclined to wait up to 3 months for the 25% tariff to be removed and this will impact exports immediately .
These American companies will apply enough pressure on Trump to re consider but as you say a bumpy August at minimum.

Was it not reported more than 60% of shareholders are small private.I'm one and collectively for this share price to move we need news more so than institutional investors,so without it we gradually call it a day.
I don't often look at irv as i find it depressing but will add once we know the date for the interim report probably a week before,as any news will get a positve response.

I read your post regarding bird feeders and it reminded me of a similiar problem we had.I decided to move the feeder up the garden and hang it from a tree but the problem still persisted with the native pesky Magpies.So i tried saluting single ones and saying "I salute you Mr Magpie."or i would rotate three times and say: "Hello Mr Magpie, how are you today, where's your wife, your child and your family?".This proved to be fruitless.
Luckily for me a farmers friend suggested a shotgun and hanging the carcass on the fence,like what we used to but being a soft southern wishy washy reindeer,i thought it more politically correct to find an equivalent road kill.
Anyway it cleared up the bird**** problem but the nieghbours are now complaining about the smell from the carcasses,which only goes to prove you clear up one mess and another one soon appears.

The EU were genuinely upset that the UK decided to leave back in June 2016,almost tears in their eyes but respected the UK electorate.They made their decision back then for 3 options,no special deals.
We either leave on WTO,we stay on a 2nd referendum turn around or its a Turkey(customs) or Norway (single market).Its not punishment we just have to make our minds up!.

If any sense came out of Chequers it was actually proceeding with Infra structure build to accomodate for WTO,not that i want it but you can't ignore it.
