The delusion on here is incredible!
Aldi and Lidl are taking over the UK supermarket industry. Their share goes up every year. Their collective UK marketshare has more than tripled from 5% in 2012 to a record 16% in 2022.
Tesco has plunged from 31% in 2012 to 27% in 2022 (and accelerating).
Aldi and Lidl (particularly Aldi) provide good food at ultra-low prices. For example, I stopped today at Waitrose to buy a tiger loaf, sliced pork, and marshmallows, for a cost of £8. Wandered round to Lidl, where roughly the same stuff and quality was £3. You can guess who took my cash...
