Do most people report the results of their home testing? If so that helps explain things a bit.

I can understand why there might be a lot of cases but I can’t get my head round how so many tests are being reported and why our test numbers are so spectacularly higher than other countries.
On a personal level I feel safe because we have been self isolating for 2 weeks since my wife had major shoulder surgery and we are going to continue to self isolate for most of January!

I am totally bemused by the sheer number of positive Covid tests .. over 180,000 yesterday. Are these all PCR tests or are they mainly Lateral Flow Tests? Are they independent tests or mainly at home tests being reported through personal apps? How on earth are so many tests being carried out to get this number of positive test results? Why are we getting spectacularly more positive results than anywhere else? Yet the numbers of deaths is falling and very low. Something seems extra ordinarily wrong with these test numbers; could the testing kits be flawed and picking up non COVID conditions but revealing them as COVID. Could the data on positive tests be inflated. Something just feels horribly wrong with the numbers and I’m trying to work out why. I’m not into conspiracy theories just trying to think how we get such a massive number of positive tests compared to anywhere else. Any ideas?

Very roughly there are 66 million people in U.K. and 60 million acres of land so about an acre per person. Should be enough !! Plus fish!

So in 1984 U.K. was 78% self sufficient in good. I have no doubt that if the will and determination was there on the part of government that we could be pretty much self sufficient in vegetables, potatoes, dairy products, fish, meat, grains, wheat etc .. certainly to let our electricity generation to fall into foreign hands is insane. If Falklands Oil could replace North Sea oil in due course that would not do us any harm.

Trying to remember if any gas was discovered in the Falklands as well as oil? We could do with some more gas of our own. The idiotic and short sighted decisions of successive British governments to allow electricity supply to end up in foreign hands and to be so dependent on Eastern Europe and Russia for gas beggars belief. There is no way that we should ever be dependent on other countries for power generation or water supplies (or food for that matter)! I read 10 years ago that the lack of investment in power generation would inevitably lead to power cuts and I believe it’s inevitable but so avoidable.

Hope Maidit 308 did not sell out and it was just a comment because he was disappointed that there was no stocking filler! Having held myself for over 10 years and sitting on a gain of over 400% on my remaining shares having cashed in a third of my holding in August to cover my total original investment plus a 100% realised gain on my total holding I can’t agree with 308’s analysis that he is fed up with SAR when he could have been making money elsewhere. You’d be hard pressed and very lucky to make more money than SAR over last few years and unquestionably the best is soon to come. Don’t sell now after showing so much patience. Can’t see sense in that at all.

Wishing everyone a happy Xmas .. Felice Navitas now my favourite Xmas record! A decent OM award a confirmed deal with Navitas, a second proper farm in partner and a sanction date for Sea Lion and we really would be up and running! 2022 could be a year to remember … who would have said that 2 weeks ago?!! To quote the dearly beloved and greatly missed Greavsie .. “ it’s a funny old world”!!

The Board have played such a blinder this year I half expected a nice little RNS wrapped in glittery paper with a gold ribbon to appear this morning! Must be saving it up to leap out of the starting blocks in 2022!
Happy festive season to all the contributors on this BB who have been brilliant all year and although Science was my worst subject at school some of the contributions have been incredibly insightful. Even good wishes to the “Wombles” for their entertaining contributions; let’s hope they won’t be needed next year and that even they may make some money from SAR in spite of themselves!!

So sorry to hear about your father in law. The thoughts of everyone on here will be with your wife, you and your family I’m sure. Let’s hope a miraculous result may come from all the treatments they might throw at him. It does happen.

Thanks Timbo .. so would I!! Crikey 75p (or 7.50 probably after Consolidation) would have been beyond my wildest expectations 2 years ago and it would be incredibly life enhancing! Trips to Brighton Pavillion, Blackpool Tower, Cheddar Gorge, Stonehenge, Forth Bridge, Hadrian’s Wall, The Angel of the North, SEC in Glasgow, Aviemore would be replaced by Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower, Grand Canyon, Great Pyramids, Golden Gate Bridge, Great Wall of China, Christ the Redeemer, Sydney Opera House and St Moritz!!!

Just don’t see the point of Glenrothes? I know it’s good to consider both sides of a situation but generally on these boards it is good to support like minded people optimistically invested in the hope of making a bit of money. Is Glenrothes heavily invested here? I have 60,000 shares .. 40,000 since 2008 and 20,000 from last weeks top up at 6p. The stream of negative posts seems pointless and frankly tedious. It’s a shame because Glenrothes in Fife is a lovely town famous for its horticulture and parks

Ironically we’ve already done that over last 2 years from 0.0035 to 0.05 over last 2 years. Be nice to do that again up to 0.75 (or 7.5 after consolidation!)

Just had a look at Redx .. their shares in issue, share price and market cap look nice a tidy and rather like how we would look after a 10:1 consolidation.

Just read the Jarndyce case. Fascinating principle! Hope we don’t suffer a similar fate with OM and RKH! I think the fact we could potentially sell the debtor is in our favour. I would think a lot of people find them selves in the position of being fleeced in the Jarndyce way. Certainly on my parents’ estate which was unbelievably simple (one house and 10 Investment Trusts) the process dragged on for an eternity and 5 figure legal fees (they had appointed their solicitor as a Trustee alongside me) and boy did the my drag it out! They charged nearly £4,000 in conveyancing fees just to sell the house which was scandalous! But to try and remove a solicitor as an executor is incredibly difficult! My advice would be never have a solicitor as an executor.

So true .. when I audaciously once chased and complained to a solicitor about the speed, or lack of, on a situation he was handling for me he pompously proclaimed “ things are progressing at the speed I would expect them to” !! Arrogant “twit”. Problem is if you try to change solicitor the new one is generally just as poor. I find them shocking in general as a profession to deal with with no concept of client service or the needs of their clients. No doubt a sweeping generalisation but I can only call as I find and everyone I speak to says the same. No one has EVER said to me “oo I can recommend a good solicitor”!! Not once!! Never!! Sorry!

Love the Caribbean .. we are doing Antigua for 3 weeks in March and by chance it coincides with the First Test (not a COVID test but West Indies v England!!) .. and that’s before SAR comes to full fruition!!

I’m guessing you may have young children or grandchildren Fearg … or maybe, like me, still just a big kid. Number 1 you could do a lot worse than New York in the run up to Xmas. We are just back and it was fabulous! Stay at The Plaza on Central Park. Fantastic .. Christmas with nobs on!!!
