I do not believe the heady days for oil are over at all.
Once the world starts suffering power shortages and power cuts because of over the concentration on alternative energy and electric everything and realises it’s all a load of tosh not least the silly little electric cars then the world will suddenly realise oil and gas is not so bad after all and common sense will prevail again .. probably after my time. Hopefully still time for RKH to come good before so peg it though!

Was that retweeted today .. if so I see that as a cryptic signal from Stephen Parker trying to arrest the fall in share price by providing something positive.

Trouble with selling now and trying to buy back in at a lower price is that you never know when good news will come and when it does come the price could shoot up before you have a chance to buy back in. Unless you are a trader probably best to hold if you are confident about the science. I know there are people who sold at between 7p & 9p and bought back in again when it went below 4p and are very happy but I think you have got to be pretty lucky to get your timing right like that.

Difficult to work out my average cost exactly because mine are a combination of Desire, FOGL and RKH but I reckon after picking up an extra. 20,000 at 6p a couple of weeks ago my average is around 60p a share on a total holding of 60,000 shares. So quite a way to go to get back into profit but confident it may still happen! Shame I didn’t sell a few at £4 but lesson learnt!!

As a fellow lifelong footie fan I can share your angst and frustration with your manager not least because he used the manage ‘pool! The ultimate insult for a true fan! For my sins I have followed ManU for almost 60 years and whilst the memory of taking my young sons (then aged 14 and 12) to Barcelona in 1999 will stay with me forever that seems a heck of a long time ago. The current shambles with a manager who has hardly cut it in terms of trophies and success is hard to bear. Every team has its day though; your guys were great in the 80’s.
Watching SAR almost minute by minute as many of us do is almost as tortuous as watching games unfold at the moment with Ringneck’s bizarre 4-2-2-2 formation! Wishing you happy days eventually with SAR and happier days at Goodison!

Hi Blue try not to get too depressed. I wouldn’t be in the least bit surprised if a surprise suddenly landed via a RNS. With the products SAR has in the pipeline a deal of some form or other could happen any time. It’s quite possibly that among other things PH have been taken on to broker a deal of some sort with their wide range of contacts and experience in this sector.

One of the problems Woodford had was that he had been successful in one area and instead of continuing to focus on the area he was good at he ventured outside his area of expertise and very few people do that successfully both in the City and in life generally. A similar thing happened to Anthony Bolton although not to the same extent. I have several friends who built up successful businesses, sold them and then tried to build new and different businesses but failed. Part of the reason in my view is that to build a good business you need a good idea combined with hard work but the magic ingredient is always luck. Specifically in fund management the managers who outperformed the markets for 20 years plus as well as having good analytic techniques also managed to stay lucky.

One of the lessons from the book about Woodford was that it only takes one bit of bad news or a lab failure to destroy an over inflated share price so however good the potential at SAR and the underlying science you can never be far away from a potential disaster. I’m sure the guys at SAR will be keen to get deals or licences in place at a fairly early stage to reduce that risk (although Sierra and SRA 737 delays show the potential pitfalls of that). If a switched on guy like Woodford can get decisions so spectacularly wrong then it shows nothing is certain and I must admit it makes me think a more cautious “sell” strategy might be sensible .. selling chunks on each spike following some good news and just keeping a smaller chunk back for the possibility of poundland (pre consolidation structure).

Been reading a terrific book about the demise of Neil Woodford’ empire over the holiday period. It discusses his ill fated investments in start up companies including bio science and tech companies and how he got investment decisions in some these companies spectacularly wrong. Whilst his motives behind alot of these investments in small start up and unquoted businesses was almost philanthropic with a desire to help and support cutting edge businesses (and make money) he clearly made some bad judgement decisions and whilst anybody investing heavily to help SAR develop its products would normally be encouraged I’m rather hoping he is not one of HNWIs who has invested here.

Another thing which I have touched on before which I believe may be significant is the age profile of the key people at SAR. They will surely want to cash in on their brilliant work sooner rather than later so they can enjoy the fruits of their outstanding work?

Steve I think you may have been looking at share price rise over 2 years NOT 1 year in which case the gain is way over 600%. Of course some people here are so disappointed with the share price rises that they wish they had played it safe and left it in cash!

I don’t for a second dispute that the planet is warming slightly and that sea level is rising .. of course it is. My beef is with what we should do about it and whether it will make any real difference. I certainly think if the big countries don’t come on board and if we don’t find a way to keep a lid on population growth then what we do does not make an iota of difference on a worldwide scale. My solution locally for the U.K. is to ban any building of houses within 10 foot of sea level FROM NOW. We build 150,000 to 200,000 houses a year in U.K. so in 100 years we could totally replenish the housing stock at a safe distance from sea level. This could also be done internationally. Then it would be incumbent upon the wealthier nations to pay to help and protect and save the people of the world who can’t build away from sea level. Far better than playing around with silly electric cars and defiling the landscape with windmills and solar panels. So do what we can to protect as many people as we can for the next 100 years and hope by then the population will be under control and the planet’s climate will be adjusting CO2 levels and temperatures by itself.

What do you mean by “what about the environment”?
I’m fed up with all this pointless drivel about trying to protect the environment.
Until world population growth is brought under control and China and USA start to do something anything anyone else does is pretty much pointless and just costs us all a fortune in unnecessary spending. At the end of the day human activity only produces around 5% of global CO2 emission and I would trust the planet itself to correct any imbalances in CO2 rather than the people on it.

Hi MattyBoy so estimate your bought at about 7.5p. I recall one the HNWI guys bought in at 8.25 probably armed with a lot more information than us so you are in good company. Really hope we see 11.25p in the near future because that is my next “sell” trigger and that would see you about 30 grand up. That would be great! All best for 2022!

Speaking as a long term investor (but not an HNWI sadly!!) in SAR I have to say I am thrilled at where we are and incredibly excited about the future. I am sure there will be plenty of investors in a similar position to me. For simplicity and using round numbers. Assume I held 1,000,000 shares (just illustrative) at start of year worth £25,000 as the share price started 2021 at 0.025p. My average purchase price over the 12 years that I accumulated shares was 0.0116p per share so total cost 11,600. I sold a third of my shares during the year so 333,000 sold at avg .07p so proceeds 23,310. So got all my cost back on my total original investment plus 100% profit on my original investment of 1 million shares.
Still hold 667,000 shares worth 0.05p so worth 33,350 currently. So at the moment I look at it and see an original investment of 11,600 paid for , a realised gain of 11,600 and an unrealised gain of 33,350. So total gain of 44,950. What is there to be unhappy about there? I do feel sympathy for investors who bought in during the early summer spike but there can’t be too many of them and I am sure they will be in the money eventually; hope so!

Cobalt said “until they release some good news for a change” .. what are you talking about? I seem to recall a number of splendid bits of news over the last 2 years and a share price that is up almost 15 fold in that time. As recently as December 17th the company announced 2 new subscriptions totalling 1.6 million. We have a company with a market cap of 150 million and we haven’t had a penny in sales yet! I don’t know what PH is all about and what the plan is there but if they are there to help with deal making (a good thing) (and I can’t think of any other reason) then let’s hope SAR are continuing to make the right decisions.
