It is not suicidal to loosen the lockdown. The vast majority of people at serious risk from Covid (ie over 60’s) have now had both vaccines so the chances and risks of another wave of deaths are minimal. The other risks to the economic well being of the country, mental health, education etc are now far greater than the risk of a surge in deaths. The key is to keep an eye on hospital admissions and deaths and then only if these start to increase significantly should restrictions be considered.

No CGT on gifts just IHT

That tweet sounds like the Master of Ceremonies preparing for the big speech!! Difficult not to get excited but if it was that easy then more money would have arrived by now. Guess the herds are waiting for a bit more certainty and not driven yet by FOMO .. don’t care really .. been waiting over 10 years so another 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 months won’t hurt too much!

Be careful with IHT tapering relief for gifts 4-7 years before death. We got clobbered on my mother’s estate because we had assumed incorrectly that the IHT tax free amount would be offset against most recent gifts first and that we would get IHT taper relief on the older gifts 4-7 years. With CGT you can generally juggle any allowances and reliefs to get the best tax result .. not so with IHT. The tax free amount is set off against older gifts first and then against more recent gifts. So in our case the result was no tapering relief at all on the gifts 4-7 years before Mum passed away and a whopping 40% tax on the gifts in her last 4 years.

If it ends up on the day let’s have an EQS every day .. ! Beats a WTF for sure! End of June seems to be the widely mooted time frame for a bit of good news which would suit nicely to coincide with my first state pension payout! Where do the years go ..almost 12 years with SAR for a kick off!!

The current situation in India with Covid, like in so many other counties, is very upsetting and the sooner companies like Sareum can come up with a treatment that will help the better. However I don’t know if anyone else heard the embarrassing and patronising interview of an Indian politician by Nick Robinson on BBC Radio 4 Today program earlier in the week?
India is having a tough time but to accuse the Indian government of failure and to deride the way India has coped with Covid generally was outrageous and showed a complete ignorance of the numbers and facts so typical of most of the reporting of Covid generally. India has suffered 150 deaths per million from Covid compared with over 1800 per million in the U.K. and similar numbers in many other western countries. At the moment the daily death rate in India is around 3,500 per day in a country of 1.3 billion people 20 times the size of the U.K.! At the peak in the U.K. earlier this year the U.K. was suffering 1500 deaths a day. Prorating the Indian figure of 3,500 per day into the U.K. would have meant 175 deaths per day in the U.K. in which case everyone would have said how well the U.K. had coped! Covid has been an appalling tragedy for the world but to pick on and criticise a country that has actually done rather better than the U.K. with fewer resources is pretty poor reporting.

Is there anything in the RNS that is likely to drive the price up in the short term and anything in particular that caused the delay in the results? It still seems to err on the side of hope rather than expectation.

Surely you wouldn’t tweet a hint of good news just before releasing an update .. that would seem quite strange timing for me .. or maybe it’s not .. just don’t know on this one! However talk of the next hop to 3p sounds exciting .. just need a skip to 8p followed by a jump to 28p and that would be quite marvellous!

I would be delighted with 10p would make the last 12 years more than worth it! I’m sticking to selling 20% at each of 4p, 8p, 18p, 28p and £1. As the old Amex advert from the 80’s said ..”that’ll do nicely sir”

Something about to happen?!!

I am have only recently invested in POW about 6 weeks ago and it looks very exciting. Just looking at the price history I see the price was around 60p back in May 2017. What were the reasons for this fall? A return to those dizzy heights would be rather good!

Sadly my average into RKH is around £1.20 bought in via DES, FOGL and RKH since the very early days back in 2009/11 when the excitement and hope was febrile and still hoping!! There is a vast amount of oil down there for sure! Luckily made a very nice turn on DANA and a few others to compensate but a long way to go to get back in credit on RKH but you never know!

Well that's an interesting spin on things from asktraders.com! They say SAR is up 22.8% today after receiving the worlwide rights for FTL3. A so much nicer way to loook at it compared with Friday!!

This board has now polarised into 2 camps .. disciples (optimists) and cynics (pesssmists). Like many AIM and biotech shares it is high risk but the potential rewards are very high too! It is a form of educated gambling and you should never invest more than you can afford to lose and you should always have an exit strategy. I am an optimist and have invested a small part of my portfolio in high risk stocks in the hope that one might come off big time. If it’s SAR (which I have been in for over 10 years) fantastic because if this comes off it will be big by any measure. I got it wrong with the Falklands where the risk reward ratio was also potentially huge but have got it right getting in early with others GFM, Genus etc
Stay strong there aren’t many massive paydays out there for small investors but this could be one.

I have always kept a decent holding of AZ shares mainly for the yield.
However can’t understand why the share price has fallen nearly 25% in last 6 months. Seems absolutely bizarre in current circumstances. Is there any logical reason?

I am 65 so if I get Covid I have roughly a 1 in 30 chance of dying. Wonder what the odds are of SAR reaching 28p in 2021? Would we settle for odds of 30/1 .. I think the odds may be better than that!!
