X, re your question about the Searose. Yes I do.

Until an alternative answer shows itself, that is. Have been monitoring the other two candidates for news to the contrary. Also the owners for news of the contract. One news item said it may off platform from May to September.

Worked it out this morning that the Venture has time to drop off the one from Methil and make it to Belfast to pick up the one currently sat on the SRQ. May need cross checking though. :)

There is certainly a lot going on in the background that was apparent from just reading the company newsletters.

I have re-watched that webinair yet again as I remembered that there was just something about the way JR reacted to that last question about the Sea Rose and the Scilly contracts. Even though Donald muddled things up a bit by combining the two seperate contracts into one question. JW didn't seem to want to expand further other than to say that they are involved in tendering for the projects and finished with, " ... and that's about all I can say at the moment, I'm affraid."

Seemed a bit odd at the time and if there are issues can understand now that he wouldn't want to go into it any further.

Just my impressions, fwiw.

They are replacing a 68 meter passenger ferry, a 37 meter freight ship and a 16 meter inter-island launch.

Fwiw, it was the first thing I did, when you first appeared out of nowhere appearing all knowledgeable about everything Quadrise. Assumed you may have been an old LTH returning to the board. But, always research the researcher is my mantra. Know who you are dealing with before believing what they have to say. Noticed you posted on a lot of similar to the Haggis character but denied any knowledge of them. Took note of the posting style of both and it was almost identicle.

Case closed, as far as I was concerned. Had no axe to grind.

It's now a case of "the lady doth protest too much, methinks"

So, meanwhile, I've gradually reading through this transcript of the last Wednesday's webinar. Besides the usual platitudes and overused phrases JW likes so much, a couple of things stood out. It was at the end while showing the last slide of the presentation, Business as normal and Strategic. One has subsequently come more into focus, namely Scotland and in particular, Aberdeen.

He talks of, “…a Scottish strategy because we think there's a huge potential up there…”

And cue the PM in Aberdeenshire.

The other thing, that he touched on. More so in relation to Aberdeen, but they may be thinking to expand to other areas also, was other offices. Local offices, for local people. :)

He said, “...and you know what? The large area for growth is in the support services.

Establishing a small network of service offices. To really get local talent into those offices, people that can work remote from the shipyards, rather than paying for them to travel, paying for accommodation and things like that.

And it's building up that local base in customers backyards… …embedded with the community, I’m really thinking Aberdeen is one of the areas that we will be focused on.”

So look out all you other major UK shipyards as there may be a Harland & Wolf Express popping up just around the corner any time soon.
