Overall, I think the concensus is that the UAW have the upper hand.

Into week 4 and their strategy appears to be working well. Sparing the automakers a further escalation of strike numbers for the coming week further increases the pressure. In my opinion the Detroit 3 have no other option than to give the UAW what they are asking for.

There should be a better picture of the affect of the current strike actions by next Friday.

You have assumed I have little understanding of the technology. That is not a correct assumption.

Do you think it would be a good idea to put all driver assist and/or driver monitoring systems under intensely close scrutiny in order to find as many potential problems as possible?

Do you think this process should be carried out as soon as possible?

Anyone can join in the discussion. Please note, I am one of the people campaigning for the driver assist and monitoring systems to be closely scrutinized.

This process will make roads safer and help in delivering a better user experience.

There is a good reason to be this nit-picky which I may share later depending on how this discussion develops.

There is one obvious question that stands out.

OK, in the same spirit as any road safety forum should be,

What is the point of having a system that allows or provides the function in quotes above? and one more,

Why would any driver not be able to simply change lanes once the path is clear using their hands and the steering wheel?

Serious answers preferred although stupid ones will be accepted as part of my road safety research.

There are an increasing number of people questioning the effectiveness of all these driver assist and monitoring systems.

It will be fully looked into soon and I am one of the people campaigning for that.

Better that any problems are found as soon as possible during comprehensive and rigorous independent testing.

I don't have any positions in GM. GM shares down over 9% in last week FYI.

Read the Chevrolet website and see for yourself. Super Cruise is explained there. Whoever the so-called experts are you are quoting might be wrong. Be wary of anyone claiming to be an expert generally.

There is a lot more rigorous testing needed with Super Cruise.

The whole future of GM in Europe rests on receiving necessary approvals for Super Cruise as things stand at the moment.

Obviously, GM need to solve the major problem of the UAW strikes as well.

This looks unlikely if Super Cruise is left as it is at the moment. The Chevrolet website gives a good, probably the most accurate, description of Super Cruise.

It doesn't look good in my opinion and more rigorous real world testing surely has to be done.

Things have changed, there is an obvious need for more rigorous testing in the real world.

I have been pressing for this for some time. There are lives at stake and vehicle safety systems must be tested more rigorously, in my opinion of course and in the opinion of a growing number of people.

Do more research and try and avoid any confirmation bias.

Safety systems must always be 100% fully tested.

Reading more about the recent prestigious industry award won by Smart Eye (SEYE), clearly they are way out in front in this field.

This should be a wake up call to the Seeing Machines board to try harder.

The news flow is at fever pitch. The UAW strikes could be spreading to other sectors, this could be coincidental in my opinion but still not good for the economy overall.

There are conflicting opinions on whether the UAW disputes are getting close to being resolved.

The UAW is expected to make an announcement this afternoon.

I advise only visiting trusted sites when searching for info on this, and anything else for that matter.

Stay safe online and on the road of course.

Blue Cruise needs testing by professional test drivers and ideally driving test examiners as soon as possible to ensure greater safety standards and a better user experience. Some user feedback would be interesting to read.

Yes, I am saying exactly that. There has not been enough testing to prove that these systems are up to the task.

Any vehicle safety system needs rigorous real world testing by professional test drivers and ideally driving test examiners.

The car buyers will not buy anything that is over-complicated and/or doesn't work properly.

This testing must be done before the vehicles are anywhere near the road.

Not enough testing has been done.

I have been banging on about the monitoring and assist systems being over-complicated and they might require a 200 mile test drive since 27th August.

I have had some abuse as a result but I keep on pressing for greater scrutiny of these systems.

Lives are at stake and these issues must be taken seriously.

The U.S. market might not welcome loads of over-complicated driver assistance and monitoring systems.

It doesn't matter who supplies the technology, if the car buyers don't want it because it is too complicated and they don't want vibrating seats or alarms going off for little or no reason, then they won't buy it.

More real world testing is needed to ensure the systems work properly in any event so hopefully a solution can be found.

Well I hope all these mandatory systems are working well enough to be fit for driving tests and all

the drivers actually want the tech or they simply won't buy it.
