The potential Government shutdown has been pushed back 45 days due to a short term agreement.

Commentary includes that this is no way to run a government, I agree.

There is a lot of interesting reading about why Henry Ford paid his workers so well.

Into the third week of strikes and there is no hope of a settlement. There is a danger that meeting the UAW demands will bankrupt the Big 3. A group of Seeing Machines shareholders think it doesn't matter.

It is imperative that other applications for Seeing Machines tech are found. It is not difficult.

Why concentrate solely on the transport sector? It makes no sense.

It might be best to wait until there is some certainty about the US Government funding emergency that may or may not occur over the weekend. If the Government does shut down we could have the most almighty crash ever seen. If an eleventh hour agreement is reached we are left with the existing problems.

I know which problem I prefer.

There is unexpected optimism today considering the likelihood of the US Government closing down from Sunday in the event that no agreement is reached regarding ongoing funding.

I hope that doesn't happen.

To illustrate the point of rear view blocking further and so there is no further confusion on this particular issue.

Consider the following scenario. A passenger is persistently blocking the view through the rear window of your vehicle. Despite being told to move their head more than once, the problem persists. Eventually the driver presses National Government into action and legislation is drawn up limiting the number of occupants in certain vehicles and introducing maximum height restrictions for rear passengers occupying the middle seat in other classes of vehicle. No vehicles fitted with only door or wing mirrors are affected. Those vehicles using rear view cameras situated behind the passengers or outside of the vehicle are not affected and the passengers can sit where they want, providing it is OK with the driver.

There, that works, problem solved.

There is never going to be mandated occupant monitoring in any vehicle. Most drivers will find it hard to understand how a camera will help them monitor their passengers. Why is that difficult to understand? Most passengers will not see the need to be monitored and that is supported by research I have personally carried out among real and experienced motorists.

Therefore the rear-view mirror based DMS will not be the most popular in my opinion.

However, there could be an alarm that sounds if a passenger is blocking the view out of the rear window. That would be useful.

This isn't about the number of vehicles manufactured in any particular country. If anyone believes that they have a breathtaking lack of knowledge.

The Magna rear-view mirror system is probably not going to be the most popular system because there is no need to monitor the occupants in any vehicle. Occupant monitoring will never be mandated, only the driver.

It would be a wise move for Seeing Machines to work on a monitoring system that doesn't involve the rear-view mirror to cater for the manufacturers that will very likely want that.

Wiseinvestor, I don't see any evidence to suggest the US Government are anything but supportive of the UAW workers.

Try actually reading some news on the subject. There is a very real danger that permanent damage will be inflicted on the automotive sector and indeed the wider US economy.

Ignore the issues at your peril.

Great news Terry, assuming they are actually going to be able to continue production for any length of time.

Right now I think the average motorist will be happy with anything that can get them from A to B even if they have to operate the controls themselves.

How is it nobody on here understands the very real emergency that is unfolding in US vehicle production?

The Tesla CEO is widely reported to have forecast that if GM, Ford and Stellantis reach a settlement with the UAW then the cost of that settlement will bankrupt them. The strikes are a no win situation for the big 3.

The Ford CEO said the same last week, that Ford faced bankruptcy.

Not good for Seeing Machines, unless you are firmly of the belief that it doesn't matter.

Time to diversify away from the automotive sector and get the company on a solid footing.

Ask them if the company have any plans to diversify away from rear-view mirrors and if not, why not?

Are there any other potential applications for Seeing Machines tech, in any other environment and why have we not heard anything about these possibilities?

Do they really think that the company can remain viable with only the current contracts?

There is an obvious misunderstanding that could raise hopes unrealistically.

Where does the myth that DMS will be in all new cars come from? It is better to be realistic.

DMS will be in new cars where required by regulations. That is likely to be a fairly small percentage of worldwide production IMO.

Look at the real world statistics, not ramptastic fantasies on here.

This is the real de-ramping, post loads of articles about the opposition winning all the contracts.

Ask them if they regret all the wasted time and missing the opportunity to lead the way in computer monitor technology and eye movement/blink control. It might not be too late, SEE could still get some of that market.

..and perhaps we can have the discussion in a civil manner without resorting to perverse insults.

How about these concerns are raised at the AGM? The only reply to any post that is anything other than uber-positive is that it is de-ramping.

Maybe some of the automotive market experts can detail on here how SEE are going to have their tech in 40% of that market?

The forecast that SEE will win a 40% share of the automotive market can be traced back to Colin Barnden.

It is blatantly unrealistic point blank. If this crazy prediction is repeated that means the BOD obviously want investors to base their decisions on pie-in-the-sky fiction.

It is vital this forecast is corrected.

Colin Barnden needs to study the automotive market more widely before even being allowed to comment on the DMS market.

Looks like this could be heading to 4.99p or below again. It would be good to hear some forecasts and expert opinions like during late July and early August. Except the US automotive sector was functional then and there was no talk of any Government shutdowns.
