The UK govt is not about to punish one of its big companies. That would be self harm. Reality is, you are unlikely to get the drop you are hoping for IMO.

Honestly, you'd have thought Brent was under 30 reading the chat here. Just imagine the profits at current price of oil. Remember the Q1 results - well Brent has gone up more than 10% since!
More money to buy back your shares, so please go ahead and sell if you think this is doomed. for the rest of us, these Brent prices will do very nicely. Cheers.

A lot of negative chatter is due to BP having a 20% stake in Rosneft. Why then did Shell pretty much mirror the fall in BP yesterday and similarly rise today? I know Shell too is exposed to Russia and have joint programmes with them - what i am trying to point out is the Rosneft connection is overstated by some posters. Easy target i suppose to promote a sense of doom. ATB and DYOR.

You can see why HUR shares are in demand. Very soon to be debt free and the UK govt quickly back peddling on net zero. The thing I am surprised about is why an offer to buy out hasn't landed yet. Also surprised no RNS yet on a threshold being breached by all the buys in the last 2 weeks. ATB

Come on people, get a grip! BP sells oil remember? Seriously odd if the chaps at BP were still buying back shares today if they genuinely thought BP was doomed and shares were going to plummet. Of course Booming Catlin may know better than the bods at BP.....one never knows and wonders never cease to happen.
I will sleep soundly with Brent at 96. I do feel for the poor folk of Ukraine. Putin is a nut even if a very clever and twisted one. IMO

Bruce, you would be naive if you think this sort of activity does not happen. Very difficult to prove and regulator is toothless so legal or not, it will be done if profitable. Only way to put a stop to this is to ban shorting as a practice. Shorting has many supporters - allegedly holds companies to account and highlights dodgy company practices - I am sure this is probably correct - but the flip side is dodgy shorting practices including trading platforms that lend out shares of their customers! Its a murky world out there. ATB and all this is IMO as I don't have any inside knowledge (if only!).

If you don't want to get caught out by episodic dips, watch where you put your stop orders - if shares are scarce, this will be played. IMO

Sometimes sitting on your hands is the best policy.....but selling half is also a fair suggestion in these circumstances. I've only got a small holding (43k shares or so). I bought knowing it was money I could write off and not be concerned. As far as I can see, it's not often we hit jackpot. Why bail early?

Alex, I agree with this. Unlikely founders will want to sell, but that does not preclude a buyout at a price the founders cannot refuse. Equally, even if they decide not to sell, offers will provide a guide as to true value of this business and SP should then reflect this. Currently the shorting companies have a grip and are in control. This can quickly change though and people shorting now, with real or imaginary money are being either very brave or very foolish. My view is the latter. ATB

I'd be surprised if there weren't plans being discussed to take over this company. Someone is steadily accumulating and an rns confirming this should follow I imagine.
