Fire sale, Fire sale !! By divesting themselves of basically assets that may be hard to turn a profit on , the BOD have taken the only real option open to them, Debt must be bought under control and obviously any monies raised will go towards this fulfilment. The nagging worry for me is the real possibility that the valuations might not be achieved either in the short term ,or the medium term ,if this comes to fruition the pressures upon cash flow stay apparent ! The precept that another owner would have the ability to turn that elusive profit is speculative at best , considering the state of the economy and the reduced footfall into public houses . One last thought, If I were able to purchase a modest public house in this sale for say £300,000, then I would need to work 10 - 12 hours a day , probably six days a week to try and make a modest living wage - say £25000 p.a. whereas £300,000 can return, at 4.5 % £13,500 whilst I am lying in bed ( and I still retain control of my capital ) Best of luck all, we are going to need it with this share !!
Gentlemen , for all you Pedigree drinkers out there , get yourselves down to Morrisons in Kidderminster , bottled Pedigree at £1.00 a bottle less a 4 for 3 offer - amazing value !!!! Yes I know it is not the same as a draught pint but come on look at the price!!! On a more salutary note, it in my opinion, just highlights the dire straits that Marstons are in - cash flow is everything especially when one has serious debts to service ! As a long term shareholder I will go to the wire but it will not stop me taking a view on my invested money . Finally , two points to get clear 1) I am not a Morrisons shareholder and 2) If they sell The Crooked House for £675.000 I will show my rear end in Burtons window !!!
Held these shares for over 5 years, What a load of garbage !!! The B.O.D. rejected a take over offer of £ 1.02 and since have presided over a demise year on year to the nadir of £0.337, with further to go ? The pubs are empty 5 nights a week, The staff are surley and immature and the group have over thirteen pubs for sale in the West Midlands alone !! Struggle to get Pedigree on tap at my local where Wainrights seem to hold sway - total rubbish- The only saving grace is the fact that the food, although basic, is acceptable. For my sins I now frquent a rival chain, which by the way offers such delicacies as a large dish of Mussels for £9.00 and extra large fish and chips for £ 11.00 ! If you can get people into your pubs then you can sell them beer !! By the way , a local brewery called Bathams that does no food at all, is totally rammed, brilliant beer at very acceptable prices !!!!! Message to Board, shape up or get out, long time share holder,
Isnt it strange that when the quarterly dividend is due, the share price strangely appreciates to accomodate the re-investment saga ! If you did not know differently , you might think that it was a planned strategy !!!!!!!
The Dame will be triumphant , irrespective of all the doubters that pervade this chat forum!!!Why are you here if you doubt the product and just what qualifications do you profess to hold that precluded you for applying for the position in the first place ? Thursday will be the testing ground and if it is positive watch everyone agree that the share is on the way back !!!
Have faith and be satisfied - Good Luck tout le monde
Final results Wednesday , in ensuing weeks looking for £0.57/58, if achieved will depart with small mark-up as have been invested at everything from £ 2,60 to £0.29 over the last17 years !! No complaints about the prices as they have all been my decision, but you know, decent decisions are very much effected by political expediences and always will be !!! There are other DOGS available out there to loose my money on !!!
Only 10 days to go for final results ! Anyone involved here should be content in the belief that £ 1.00 plus is within reach , personally I am involved at various levels , but recently took a position at £0.88 ( chasing that elusive £1 ) time will tell but all quiet on the Western front at the moment , ( notice the very clever reference to a winning film ?? ) Good luck all
jturkas, agreed the interest upon the debt may well be fixed at source , but material costs to the company , delivery costs, labour costs are all increasing which directly effect the purchasing power of the £ 4 billion debt eating it away as it was negotiated pre 10% inflation ! The company will undoubtedly have negotiated progress payments on most projects, but the bottom line will not show itself for anything up to a year. Happy days.
Debt, Debt, Debt, The main destroyer of value for everyone except the CREDITORS, and although I accept that serious companies like RR. must have a degree of borrowings to function a sum of in and around £4 billion is potentially catestrophic especially when base costs are rising at great speed. On the brighter side, a full order book is most encouraging but standard terms in engineering mean that six months to a year plus are the norm so cashflow is under pressure constantly. If RR. shares make £ 1.25 this year ,then I will be content , with a possibility of £ 1.50 plus there after but I wish there were some guarentees !!!!!!!1
What have Rolls & Vod got in common ? Both owe billions !!!! Both are on their knees whereas the well run companies have generally seen a reasonable recovery !! Now both may slowly recover during 2023/4 because both are massive institutions , but in the short term both are a day traders delight! Irrespective of any brickbats that are sure to follow this post , get real lads - look at the share prices.
Just sold 10000 at 0.9334 to pocket some profit, i feel that is near the top for today but will look for any re-trace next week!I dont believe in Castles in the Air like some posters on here , but time will tell !!!
Dear Investorin the know, your point is valid up to a degree , Mike never bothered me as regards my investments,I found him positive and sometimes humourous, unlike some of his detractors who quite frankly were positively rude ( as if their opinion was the only valid one!) Sir, this forum is a free to air broad church and as such be welcoming of all faiths! As regards the schoolboys that I refered to I stand by that comment - I dont want to be in your gang ! Finally, goodbye Mike hello Minvest. There is more than one way to skin a cat. Private opinion - Buy RR. oVER AND OUT
Currently trading at minus £6500 on this share, but never expected any real progress until end of 2023 - early 2004 by then was looking for £2 ish. With all the speculation and ramping from some posters on here one would think that this share was a get rich quick scheme !! Having owned and run a heavy engineering company myself you get to appreciate the time lags involved twixt design to production to sales to three months payment lag. Gentlemen, it is not for widows and children !! Yet patience will prevail but not at the rate that the schoolboys predict.
Mike, What a brilliant post !!! i could not understand a word of it !!! What are candles and what are cups ??? Keep on posting as you really make me laugh, ( or are you taking the proverbial out of all your detractors ? ) LOL
Could have sold yesterday at £2.01 , but on a re-trace got a bit greedy, now looking for perhaps £2.10 by end of November , the dark days of early October are a distant memory for now ! By the way , where have all the nae sayers gone ? does nobody post on this site anymore ? X MAS IS COMING !!!
