Morning all, Specific message for Darth Trader, could you be a bit more lucid upon your comment of last evening? I have consulted every known dictionary and still can not make heads or tails of it!! Regards A FRIEND
Have you read the stupidity on the " Come on Horsey" comments its like mass histerior , quote £0.67 before year end, £ 0.80 before year end, A POUND before year end, where do these commedians get their Valium???? Keep buying lads Im sure you are right. Having had 11 years experience in trading in Lloyds then £0.55 would be good, maybe £0.60 at a push but being the biggest Mortgage Bank in the country you gotta hope interest rates dont increase!! I AM NOT DEFEATIST JUST PRACTICAL.
Who ever said " Park your money in Lloyds " needs to see a good shrink! I have been a long term holder since August 2008 when Gordon Brown told the nation that the take over of Halifax/ Bank of Scotland was good for the sector, my shares cost £ 2.87 each and within five months the share price had fallen to £1.04. We then stuggled through the recession and found that byFebruary 2010 the share price had fallen to £0.47. After a short recovery i February 2011 when the shares were £0.65 down
again in November to £0.29. On to January 2014 when it looked like a revival was imminent at £0.83 only to be screwed by PPI WHERE EVERY CHANCER IN THE WORLD HAD A pAYMENT pROTECTION iNSURANCE. On to 2016 when Lloys hit the dizzy heights of £0.49. Then on to Covid where after coming out of a World pandemic we have reached the dizzy heights of £0,465 and quadrupled the shares in circulation. The Government must be dying laughing, what a load of idiots we are!!!!
Come on RR. One of the best Engineering Companies in the World, forget all the naysayers six months is a long time, by next July will be £1.75 plus and if I am wrong will show my rump in Burtons Window9 ( Do Burtons still exist ????? ).
To all you drinkers of real ale and good beer, where the Heck has Marsdens Pedigree disappeared to???? in my part of the West Midlands it is " Persona Non Gratia "Yes, it was priced at a few sheckles more than your average swill, but what a drink !!! Not bottled but hand pulled it was like eating and drinking at the same time!! If we let it die more fool us. Viva MARSDENS!!!
Fairdealer, with all due respect, Ralphs departure and the Brains chairman reigning is clearing out old wood, New world that they could not agree with, their perogative to go, numerous annalagies going right back over 80 odd years, Halifax did not agree with Churchill, Heseltine did not agree with Thatcher, Brown did not agree with Blair, I do not agree with Whitbread, but Im damn sure that if I were running Marsdens I would produce something that my competitors had not thought of doing!! All power to Marsdens Arm, and stop being so negative, the next trading update may be poor but it will be the floor for advancement, Viva Le Pedigree ( And by the way Rev. James is a stonking Beer as well ).
Well done Marstons B.O.D. who saw it coming - nobody, who else thought of it ? - nobody, this is the difference between being an inovative business person and just a commentator after the events !! The possibilities are endless with a supposedly poor Brains estate that could compete with all the childrens amusements around, really for minimal outlay compared to the competition. I hope its an amazing success, but if it isnot then on to the next innovation, early days yet, but
at the risk of repeating myself - I LIKE IT !!!!!!!!!!
Excellent Post, we are all here to make money and how one does it really does not matter. As regards I T V I also have been in and out but have got one wrong when dealing pre-covid and as a consequence am now a long term holder on a part of my portfolio, but will still try to average down!!!!! As usual time will be the deciding factor but I feel that we are at the nadir of this current cycle. August/September should see £1.30/£1.35, in the meantime - Keep gambling ,
To all concerned, think of it this way, If you bought a small house with the intention of letting ,you might get 5% rental but your capital would be constrained and/or you would be paying mortgage every month on any amount borrowed. You would have uncertainty of rental being paid and all related problems would be yours ,as the landlord!! With BP. you invest your capital and have almost a golden assurance that you will earn 5% per annum in dividends, and a decent prospect of future share price increases with absolutely no other calls on your lucre!! Stop being nervous and grow some after all it is July, the most untraded month in the calender, wait until the Autumn or winter comes!!!!! Definate BIG buy.
Buy, Buy, Buy, the histerior arround BP. who knows what and where and what analysts know and we dont is pathetic dealt by contributors who also guess!!! The truth is BP. is a top company making top profits and paying decent dividends . When the planes start flying again across the Atlantic et Al and business finally gets its act together BP. will be a great hold! Six months will tell, dont come back on this board and say can you remember when this share in EARLY jULY was £3.10 End of Rant. Im going to lie down in a darkened room.
Like everyone else Ive taken a bashing today especially with Glen & BP but when they both report for the trading positions they will both bloom! Does anyone know when this will be?? I thought they were both in July, answers on a postcard to .............
Ta very much in anticipation
I like Faulky, His/Her comments are generally upbeat and positive and not like some of the miserable posters who knock him/her at every oportunity. This is a free comment platform but it is not obligitory for anyone to take any notice of anyone else - including me! If one does not like this post , then tough, instead of berating Faulky shout Faulky for King. HaHa.
Buying the balance of shares in the Cerejon Mine ,on the face of it, may seem weird, yet what does one do when partners want out of the business? Do you also put your shares on the market so that someone else can pick them up at an obviosly reduced price or do you cement your investment and as Ivan states the projected breakeven point will be achieved within 2 years ( Anglo American ) Neither option reduces the carbon output but I back Ivan and Glencore to manage the position with sensitivity. Considering that coal still produces 40% of the worlds electricity I feel that on balance it is a reasonable moove. I have been in and out of Glen over the past three months but have just bought back in on this news and at this affected price. Time will tell!!!
Fairdealer20, Thank you for your input but it still does not answer the basic questions that I posed i.e. the deal would probably contain clauses that eventually necessitated not including the 40 odd sub standard houses after an inspection. Brains were in financial difficulties without doubt but to say that RF could have made a better deal is pure speculation without knowing all the facts afterall it would be a board decision not his alone!Regarding repairing leases, we dont know but the members of the board will, and they have no specific mandate to share that information with minor shareholders like us but it was a buisiness decision to improve our income and hopefully our share price. People on the outside always think that the people who are in charge are not competent and could have always done better. The next trading year will give us an insight one way or another. Keep the faith
Trent, Please correct me if I am wrong but I take it that on principle you do not object to the deal with Brains as you stated that RF could have scooped them up at a heavy discount if the free funds were there to do so. My question is how do you know the details of the deal that has been done? Only a sketchy leaseback detail has been announced, The deal must have had the approval of the board and been costed accordingly! As a shareholder myself I see the whole deal as a positive one,
a chance to grow the brand and make a presence in South Wales that previously was poor. It will not be a quick fix but you
only make money by laying some cash or guarentees out. Come on Marsdens ,England & Wales (Football I mean).
Billy, agreed with your sentiments , but I dont know if you are old enough to remember but in 1966 in the second game of the tournament England drew 0-0 with Uraguay, then went on to win it - History repeating ? n"est pas??
