At the recent mining Indaba, Zambia and DRC signed an agreement to develop the industry to produce batteries locally so that they are not just benefitting from the raw materials. Cobalt produced in an ethical way in Zambia (ie, without child labour) could be incentivised. Who knows if Leon and the government have been in talks about getting locally produced Cobalt scaled up?

As far as I am aware there are no real alternatives to Cobalt if you want EV’s with a decent range and there is pressure to increase range rather than reduce it. I’m sure there are people researching alternatives but that doesn’t mean they are likely to be realised any time soon. Lower end ‘city’ vehicles with limited range may be able to do without it.

The report I saw from last year forecast a 20 fold increase in Cobalt requirements by 2040 but even if the price did drop we are still going to be making a huge margin on what is essentially a by-product.

On the contrary, a lot of people DID make a quick buck and dumped a lot of shares onto the market in the process. Don’t forget it wasn’t so long ago the SP was 2.3p. Once that liquidity has been mopped up the price will rise and the same people will be back in looking for the next bit of news to sell into. Investors know the real value to be had here is to hold and see how the drilling plays out but there will be money to be made on the spikes for those who prefer to trade.

I'd previously collected all of the assay results together to work out average grades etc. so I thought I'd post them for anyone who might be interested. The reporting format has been a bit haphazzard to date, hopefully AAL will bring a bit more standardisation.

One thing I'd forgotten about was that the drilling at Muswema showed traces of Cobalt. Hopefully we see a lot more of that when the drilling starts up again!

If the cobalt production was going to be modest they would not be bothering to truck material from the North, incurring un-necessary costs.

Homey said that there was nothing positive in the update. If he doesn’t find the generation of local jobs a positive then I think that says something about him.

I believe we are now the largest employer in Kabwe. It’s not all about making money, creating skilled employment for the local community is something to be proud of in my view.

Contrary to Homeys assertion that there is no production estimate for the cobalt circuit:

“ In addition to the copper refining capacity at Sable, Jubilee has approved the implementation of a cobalt refining circuit at Sable able to produce up to 1 200 tonnes of cobalt per annum. The new cobalt circuit is expected to commence commissioning during June 2022. At current prices of cobalt of c. US$ 81 000 per tonne of cobalt, this exciting project holds the potential to add significant revenues to the Southern Copper Refining Strategy.”

And from Sharehunter2b who attended the General Meeting:
“ The cobalt at sable will be material coming from the northern side until that is up and running on its own. Expect cobalt to start in July”

I think the reason for implementing the circuit now is obvious, because Leon is wanting to offset the extra costs on production. If they are able to produce 100 tonnes a month at a resale price US$81,000 / tonne that’s quite a bit of offsetting! Even if you do have to truck the material to achieve it.

It’s not a good deal…. It’s a bloody amazing deal! As John Meyer said in the investor call, he’s never seen anything like it in his career. Oh well, you can’t force people to buy. I’m sure drills will be turning as soon as they can get them on location. I think with Anglo’s geologists running the show they will have a much better insight into where to drill, rather than Arc’s ‘low hanging fruit’ approach which was a great first step. My feeling is that if they start drilling at Muswema, the target is so big that we could be hearing news relatively quickly.

All of the data, maps etc. has been taken from RNS’s and presentations. I don’t think there’s any likelihood of them releasing data for public access apart from what is already available. We should hopefully get to see the latest airborne EM survey results at some point and there are still drilling results from last season outstanding although I don’t expect to see anything too surprising.

Ella is not to be trusted, he has proved that over a very long period, under multiple aliases. The only reason for the change of attitude is because they now have a holding and would really like to see the price go up thankyou very much!

The reason they don’t mention that risk is not because they have overlooked it… it’s because it doesn’t exist!

Jubilee do give the basket split %'s. It's on page 11 of the WHI research note. How accurate those figures are is another matter but they must have considered them a reasonable approximation to pass them on to WHI.

It’s just a guess but I think there may have been a fair few warrants exercised after todays news which will have had a drag on the SP. Most of the outstanding ones were at 3p. I don’t know when they were due to expire but you’d be mad to not to take them up after that deal!

I’m sure he’ll get around to the (Anglo) Americans directly! :-)

No official announcement from AAL yet or Zambian government…. Looking forward to seeing what they have to say!
