RE: surge in platinum price5 Jun 2022 14:55
There seems to be some disagreement on some factors relating to the PGM basket. Personally I have used the splits quoted by WH Ireland, which presumably they have received from Jubilee. To get a better idea of typical values for PGM splits I looked for historical data and found this:

I put the data into a spreadsheet to look at average split values and these are the results for mines with at least partial data available:
Western Limb. https://tinyurl.com/yckjtkrj
North East / South East Limb: https://tinyurl.com/4rumbpm4
It suggests that the split used by WH Ireland is not too far from the calculated averages and pretty close to the vales from Tharisa.
Also another confusion, Jubilee mention Osmium on the website and also in RNS's but as far as I understand it 6E PGE is based on Platinum, Palladium, Rhodium, Ruthenium, Gold and Iridium, and that is what is presented in the data sheet above and also in the WH Ireland split.
Ruthenium and Iridium account for 13% of the PGM split used by WH Ireland and ignoring that will inevitably skew the data toward the other elements, resulting in a higher calculated basket value.
Regarding PGM ounces produced from Inyoni for this second half of the year, the RNS from 16th May states:
"At Inyoni alone, chrome production remains on target. PGM ounce production continues to increase after first replenishing the in-process PGM pipeline that was drained as part of the capital project. Inyoni is expected to reach its 3 500 PGM ounce monthly target for May 2022 and delivered 8 018 PGM ounces in Q1 2022, an increase of 75% when compared with Inyoni's average production rate of the previous two quarters despite refilling of the operational pipeline after start-up."
So from Jan-March they produced 8018 oz, in May (and presumably June too) they expect to produce 3500 oz. April is unknown but would be 3500 oz as a maximum. Adding that up equates to approximately 18,500 oz. In H1 they produced 20,316 oz (6,000 of which was part processed before the shutdown). That adds up to a total for the year from Inyoni of 38,834 oz. Presumably the extra ounces to make up the target of 43,000 oz will come from Windsor.
