I suspect we have reached (or, are reaching) peak vaccine euphoria. I think the main market will realise soon enough that vaccines are not a silver bullet and there may well be a mini rollover back into covid stocks in the near future. Vaccine rollout is going to take time and we're going to see continued major disruption to our lives for many months to come. The £900m tender for LFT's is testament to the fact that our government realise this and are take their testing strategy very seriously . And I'm just talking about the UK here, who have the resources (and vaccine pre-orders) to turn this around more quickly than many other less wealthy countries around the world. The UK will remain a major market for our testing products well into the second half of 2021 and beyond. As to other markets/countries around the world, demand for LFT's will be enormous. Hard to stay positive when the share price is where it is, but I always take comfort from looking at the bigger picture.

I think if AS published the S&S now and the figures were superior (or far superior) to the competition, then that would let our competitors know they had to up their game. I can see why he'd want to leave publication a bit longer, since it in effect gives less time for others to catch up. I guess that's why he regards it as commercially sensitive.

Would be very interesting to know if affimers were mentioned in the original tender (before it was extended). In fact, any change of wording between the two, could be quite revealing. Govt often make text changes during the tender period and notify those changes to interested parties. Used to have some software to compare two documents for differences, but can't remember what it was.

Arnold: Alistair would have had that tender sitting on his desk for a couple of weeks now. He would be aware that affimers get a mention. Maybe, the RNS had something to do with this. May have thought this is a good time to get the news out about change to swab, since any damage done to share price would be quickly repaired by government tender 'affimer' mention. Who knows? Great, though, to have something to speculate about again, after yesterdays hammering.

Doubt very much the govt would announce who’s completed the tender. Had some experience of govt tenders (on a magnitude smaller scale) and that never gets published. Each tenderer will just get notification that they’ve been successful, and that’s when we’ll get an RNS.

Energyshares: Was thinking the same myself last night. Think it's fair to assume that Avacta have been told by the government that they want a sovereign supplier. Can't think of any reason our sales director would say that unless he was told. I mean it's not the sort of thing you would just make up. So, can well see the government saying to Avacta "Look guys, we like the look of your test, S&S looks promising, but we kinda like this sampling method that all our 'troops' (including NHS staff) are becoming familiar. Can you do anything?". What are our other sovereign competitors?

BBI own Diarect AG in Germany. Perhaps European validation will be done through them.

Reading the above, I suspect there don't be a need for TT to BBI. Two reasons:
1. BBI developing a scalable version (version implies a different product)
2. BBI Solutions is an excellent development partner (note development partner, rather than manufacturing partner)

Maybe it's time for amateur.invest to take a closer look at those swabs he found in Alistair's bins a few weeks ago. See if we can get a timeline from them.

wyndrum: Wise move this morning. Actually, sold 10% of my holding at 130'ish (would have sold more, but couldn't). Not because I've 'Lost the Faith', just because I knew as soon as I saw it, that RNS had a 15% drop written all over it, so thought I'd buy back cheaper. Still fairly relaxed about Avacta medium/long term. I feel that even with nothing from covid (highly unlikely though that is), this share is solidly anchored significantly above £1, with everything else in the pipeline.

The government have already ordered a 100 million, why do you say they will not take it up?

We all want to see this pandemic end, for the good of humanity, as you say, but from a selfish shareholder point of view, it's the perfect scenario for Omega. Dare I say, I was worried about another 95%'r, but this all but guarantees widespread need for antibody follow up.
