You make that sound like your wife is doing a test twice a week 'because' she's about to receive a vaccine. In other words receiving a vaccine being conditional upon the testing. Is that right, or would she be doing the tests, anyway, regardless of the vaccine? It would be interesting to hear that testing is being coupled with the vaccine somehow. Thanks

Interesting point that Korda. Going forward, I can see countries requiring to see an antibody test on entry, rather than a vaccine certificate, since a vaccine certificate won’t really guarantee you have antibodies (depending on the type of vaccine taken and the longevity of protection).

That’s the dream team for me gkb47, I’m heavily invested in both. Was always in the ratio 2:1 Avacta, but I changed that a bit after Avacta’s last RNS. With ODX, I can see what the plan is, and have more concrete information to make my decisions. I know they will have a 2million/week capacity by spring, for instance. With Avacta, I find I’m guessing a lot now, with talk of having a ‘scalable product’, with hints of expanded capacity in Asia and no more mention of Abingdon in last RNS.

But, as Arnold said earlier, both companies will do well, just a question of which nag you fancy the most.

boot192: Think you’re forgetting about Mologic antigen test. TT complete by Jan, so 1 month to market.

ODX will be using the vast majority of their manufacturing capacity for Mologic antigen test. When they reach their intended capacity of 2 million tests per week, by spring, they will shift some of that capacity to antibody as the demand requires. Makes perfect sense to me.

TWatcher: A dynamic purchasing system means that it’s never closed to new suppliers. You can apply at any time to be included. The swab part is a red herring, you can ignore it. Probably been included in error. These codes just indicate the categorisations of the type of product being put out for tender. They are not the product specification. I have some experience of govt tenders in my own business, and categories are usually pretty general. See my post 22:22. I too share your concern if it’s not RTC, but as I said earlier, I suspect it’s the govt covering their backside, to avoid the criticism they got when they gave out the initial 1m contract without going through a tendering process.

That’ll be the ‘m’ in mRNA then, microwaved RNA, sounds delicious!

Anyway, without labouring the point, it’s a tender for antibody tests, but you’re saying it can’t be ODX, because it’s swab. You kind of defeat your own argument there.

MIKODX: Yes, thanks, I do know the difference. There are swab antibody tests actually. Mologic are developing a dual antigen/antibody test, for instance.

Probably the govt covering themselves this time around, to avoid criticism for giving out contracts directly, without going through the usual tendering process, like what happened in the case of the first RTC order.

MIKODX: CPV codes just describe categories that the product comes under. Companies interested in govt tenders specify what CPV codes they wish to receive notifications for. So, it could easily be AH. They’ve just included the extra swab CPV codes, so that ‘swab’ companies receive the same notification as all the other test providers.

I know that Mars, but I'm asking what the deal is between Mologic and Omega. For instance, have Mologic asked Omega to make available some of their production capacity to produce the antigen tests for these third world countries and in return, Mologic have allowed Omega to brand the product as being 'Omega', which then allows Omega to sell the same test to more developed countries.

Oh, yes, forgot to say I don't think Mologic (who have a subsidiary in the Boston, USA) would be building a plant with a capacity of 40 million tests a year (which they say will be focused on LFT's), or Omega would be increasing it's workforce by 30-40%, if these two great companies didn't think they were going to shift a good few of these.

Was wondering if some well-informed poster could answer me this. We know we're going to be making Mologic's antigen test and that we will relabel it as an 'Omega' product. Bearing in mind Mologic have built this new manufacturing facility near their existing HQ, which will have a capacity of circa 40million tests per annum. My question is, what's in this for Mologic? Are they just after our additional manufacturing capacity (so, say we'll make a mix of Mologic labelled antigen test as well Omega labelled antigen test). Just wondering what the 'prid quo pro' is.
