Which is exactly what I said rocquet. A positive PCR test doesn't tell you which variant you have. They only know that after the PCR swab sample is gene sequenced. And, as MrA said, it is a portion of PCR positive samples which are sent for gene sequencing. Used to be about 20%, might be more now.

Think it's gene sequencing that detects variants, not PCR.

They don't appear to be going for self-test approval and are not collecting usability data.
The test was originally nasopharyngeal, so maybe they're just gathering comparative AN data.
