I don't share your optimism for 2026... largely because I think CPI will be left scarred from the savage cuts necessary to keep the wheels turning what with targets consistently being missed (the bigger issue is the shortfall with sales which I've always stressed as being my greatest concern here for CPI).

I agree Aim, recession definitely here and timing is really bad news for CPI. Recession may not be that deep but it is going to be for a prolonged period IMO.

House price data was especially interesting as it gave the forewarning the recession was in flight.

In 12 months time many investors will find they're devastated as yet again AH will miss targets and will be overseeing another round of terrible results.

Capitalizer - AH's priority should centre on sales... which have been falling through the floor. Chasing higher margins is a holy grail affair and just booking sensible margins is all that is required to keep the wheels turning.

His strategy isn't going to work: because it's centred on cutting rounds, asset sell offs, and betting the entire house on AI fantasy.

Trisor, economy was completely trashed by Tories... only reason they were not out the door sooner was they abused the Treasury's ability to borrow from the markets at low rates and they borrowed monumental sums too... that goodwill from global investors ran out on Truss's mini budget and had the Tories called an election after that they'd have lost... they couldn't call such an election and instead opted to allow Rishi to pointlessly cling on to power which only did them and the country further damage.

You're utterly deluded if you think the Tories did a good job on the economy.

The most damaging line of prose within CPI's RNS this morning IMO:

"Looking forward, we have opportunities which deliver AI solutions with the hyperscalers worth more than £5bn within the pipeline"

This is ludicrously optimistic and I call it out as being simply delusional...

CPI is not even booking £3bn revenue figs, so for this trading update to peddle dreams of £5bn incoming down the line is just sheer nonsense.

Most welcome Aim and in fairness to you, finally you peered into the figures & grasped this stock is a sick dog 🐕 - I wholly expect you'll do well from your short, even if not immediately at market open.

GOcpi will need that luck as these results are really poor... sure CPI made some cost reductions and sold off a profitable component part to keep the wheels turning but... servicing debts gets especially tricky with acutely falling revenues.

Any fool can make cost reductions through savage cutting rounds. What is difficult is delivering cuts whilst simultaneously maintaining revenues, and CPI have failed to achieve this. Meaning as I had predicted the business is smaller and will find it harder to either raise finance or service debts.

I agree, Aim your short is pretty safe and even if there's an early morning rally for the SP then it should easily fall backwards later on in the day as the fiscal reality wins out by COP... if I were you Aim I'd be holding that short open because these results are worse than anticipated on many fronts.

Down again tomorrow IMO... this stock should already have been trading ~570p - Claimant and unemployment figs out in the morning are IMO unlikely to bring any positive support and are more likely to see FTSE a little downbeat.

Absolutely true and that's because any rate cuts typically take at least 6-12 months before their positive effects begin to show up in the general economy, so really not that surprising at all that they've not let to an immediate uptick for Germany.

Completely agree about holding cash back for resilience to make it through turbulent times.
