Avocet123 - Yep, aware you can always hold and not sell. Except on all my holdings since I started trading I've 100% sold them off for pure profit - I've zero paper losses or any other losses so far. I'm a new investor here in VOD (currently up) and same goes for other stocks I've purchased recently too... as before the recent broad based FTSE drop I'd 100% sold out of all stocks I was holding... watched on while the large drops caused a bit of carnage for some holders. I re-entered once the drops had come to an end. Fortunate timing perhaps but then again I'd been calling that drop as you know ;-) - I'm a wee minnow in a big pond though (a bottom feeder really)! Certainly not a wise owl trader with such a big wallet as yourself. Anyway best of luck with endeavours! Happy trading!

Correct, CPI will be smaller/leaner/weaker/poorer and what's more is that shareholders will own ever more of the smaller/leaner/weaker/poorer business. Get out whilst you still can IMV!

It's small change for VOD as they had already sold off their previous holdings in Indus Towers some time ago, leaving them with just 3% - little point in keeping hold of the 3%... completely logical to sell off the small 3% which remained.

Avocet123 - Nice prose of slander there but I've been trading since Dec 2022 and have not booked any losses yet so there's no evidence for your baseless claim (yet).

I'll confess though... I called EZJ wrong, I'd thought it'd drop significantly, and yet it's done far better than I'd expected. Seems I missed an opportunity there! However, I had my money in other stocks which have done me rather well!

Bring on the merger! I've accumulated some more on today's dip, could go lower of course but the ultimate direction is what will matter in the end!

Fleccy you also said "if the customer isn't bothering to take advantage of targeted discounts then that isn't BT's fault." FWIW I whole heartedly agree with this. It was a period when many advocated switching to get good deals, the rise of Uswitch and comparethemeerkat was beginning to take hold. However, when the chips are down I think the courts will end up deeming that BT being in the advantage power position over older generation customers should have done much more to actively help such customers to benefit from lower prices, even actively moving some hard to reach customers onto lower priced deals.

Fleccy I completely agree where you said "it isn't clear cut". Definitely the case and is also why I don't think the fine will be the full £1.3bn worst case scenario but... I think it's highly likely to be above £1bn and the slow reaction for BT in terms of some having passed away over the course of the legal action I think means the courts will be heavy handed with BT to make an example of their delay/dither tactics... ultimately meaning the chances of a fine below £1bn feel highly unlikely.

Unfortunately I think the fine will be a record one. I think they'll seek to make an example out of BT. Additionally there's higher NIC's and other cost rises coming in down the road which look set to inevitably drag on the balance sheets.

They spout nonsense, for them the only thing they want to see is zero debts. The problem... zero debts equals low growth!

SSPG here have been bold with their borrowing but... they've done absolutely the right thing, the board spotted the growth trend in travel and borrowed big to invest and now SSPG gets to reap the massive bounty of rewards because the business will continue growing faster than the debt pile can grow.

Debt used well is a force for huge growth and prosperity so ignore the debt purists who peddle complete and utter nonsense. Debt is good 👍 (when used wisely!)

Burgeseb - Most interesting... did you gaze into your crystal ball to determine this? - CPI themselves took a different view in their own latest set of results because they explained they were expecting a single mid digit percentage contraction for revenues.

In South Korea - Well I didn't expect that one! I've noticed some stocks dropping but struggle to see that events will have too much spillover to UK markets. Interesting stuff!

Lunchbox - scoff as you so wish - I stand by my record nonetheless. The one major call I was off the mark on was EZJ, I didn't invest in it and I should have done so but hey ho!

JBCo - with it being possible to get those ratings from other sources the Baron would need to do more to make it worthwhile reading their prose. Sorry to be harsh but it's just they're not really adding anything that isn't already available elsewhere.

Fair play Fibrelad - Well I've shared my story transparently - I've had some huge wins; Currys/TUI/BT (twice over)/JDW plus some other smaller stocks along the way too. I was pretty gutted to miss out on BT's recent rise to 160p, I'll give you that one but... I've booked consistent profits and still not a single loss to date. On my of these trades my only regret is that I didn't buy some more because on a few occasions I could have booked monumental gains with the decent calls I've made over the past couple of yrs!

Bearraider - FWIW I think you've make the right call.

There's gaps sub 130p, BT's forward look has declined. I sold out around the 146-149p range (majority sold at the higher end) a few weeks back. Fortunately I ploughed lots of the cash realised into SSPG; which is today up a rather cool 11.9% currently 😊 with a superb forward look too. There's many other superb value stocks out there, majority with better growth prospects than BT right now too.

Happy to have maintained my unbroken record of booking zero losses since Dec 2022! It's bound to go wrong at some point of course but I shall enjoy the good run I've been having until it breaks!

@AimMaster - Nice work on shorting CPI, so you finally agree that CPI is a junk stock... took you long enough! Mind you they do say better late than never eh?! Personally I don't take out short positions but... best of luck with your endeavours!

Meanwhile... after selling my BT stocks for rather tidy profits I've since seen lovely paper gains for the tranches of SSPG stock I'd recently purchased! Lovely Jubbly!!
