Funny how these efforts always come to a head on a Friday.

Given what the cost uplifts are delivering and their temporary nature (which Steve and his love of leaving suggestive vagaries definitely understands as BBN has recently been through this rationale in detail on Twitter), this is a means to an end.

The end game of this expenditure is what matters, and that delivers a transformation in the businesses overall economics, scale and ability to reduce costs more than ever post-refurb through greater production capacity and efficiency. The costs are not a reflection of running costs. The likelihood is that the work is now been costed in detail now so the costs are simply refined for accuracy.

- ensuring speedy implementation of renewable energy projects under bid window 4, of which over a 1000 MW has already come online.

- the procurement of 2000 megawatts (MW) of power under the Risk Mitigation Independent Power Producer Programme, of which preferred bidders will be announced before the end of March 2021.

- procurement of additional power in line with the IRP 2019 of which request for proposal for 2600 MW of renewable energy (bid window 5) will be issued to the market during March 2021. This will be followed by additional bid windows between August 2021 and March 2022 from renewable energy, storage, gas and coal.

Also this interesting inclusion jumps out for obvious reasons.

Unlocking the vanadium bearing titaniferous magnetite to produce iron, vanadium and titanium **** in a state-of-the-art smelting facility in South Africa.

The PEP short was linked to Vaneck buying in. They sold and it closed. It was tracked here throughout its inception and closure.

The newer .52% is a different position. I think people need to be careful not to end up down a rabbit hole here. A .52% short, whilst moderately significant, is hardly enormous. Clearly someone saw opportunity at 24p and whether that was to help a buying position or to simply take advantage of the retrace, we do not know but it's hardly a huge consideration given the size of holdings people have here. Equally we know some funds in Netherlands/Luxembourg have been buying. Who knows exactly what their methodology is to achieve their preferred entry.

It would be quite a leap to suggest this is entirely dictating the SP performance over years.

It is laughable that all of the recent rises have delivered 0 impact on the SP (except downwards) and as soon as an almost inconsequential tick down happens (less than 1/3 of a $), it is used as an excuse to drop the SP. Meaningless in the grand scheme of things but does highlight the absolutely pitiful level of effectiveness of this market in valuing more complex businesses like BMN, particularly whilst there is a seller. Fortune said he would 'lance the boil' and I for one cannot wait. It is actually embarrassing looking at the SP and thinking this is the best that UK markets can muster for this companies valuation.

More interestingly I have been doing some reading up on green stocks with a Nasdaq listing, and did you know that compared to the UK, they are on average rated around 5x higher than equivalent shares on AIM.

It is going to be interesting seeing what happens with Largo and thus ourselves. Obviously Largo are starting from a higher baseline,but there is a chance that they are going to see significant upward movement as the year progresses and if they are successful with their listing. That would undoubtedly put even more pressure on our SP.

Also great to see Pres Ramaphosa again out promoting his 'procure locally' message this morning. If Eskom don't support SA vanadium and use the opportunity the BESS projects present to endorse VRFB it will really undermine the credibility of this message.

Staggering uptake levels.

If anyone is still wondering about the pace building for energy storage, here is an outrageous stat for you on a Saturday afternoon.

Did you know that more energy storage came online in Q4 2020 (in the middle of a global pandemic) than came online in the years spanning 2013 to 2019.

Imagine what is coming post-covid.

VRFB needs a smaller and smaller % of total global adoption for Bushveld to be inordinately successful in this arena.

Who needs trolls when we have our own shareholders to dampen any enthusiasm on this sentiment-driven market.

It's easy. This market is so utterly inept that singular entities are able to trump macro economic forces to create the most unrealistic reflection of a companies actual performance known to man.

Big smile from Fortune when talking about the outlook for domestic demand for VRFB in SA. Given the current context, and size of tenders involved that is not the reaction of a man who looks worried about whether they will get over the line.

It's very clear that although there may be some fireworks this year from rising prices, the much bigger win is H2 into 2022 when production capacity really starts to jump up. The profitability at 6000 MTV which we could be hitting next year will mean that we can hit spectacular profit levels much more consistently at much lower and more sustainable V prices. 2018 levels at c$40-45 depending on costs. This is crucial because it is absolutely imperative Bushveld can grow into a larger but importantly sustainable MCap.

Clearly Mokopane's story is about to play a bigger role this year as Vanchem begins to increase production and needs supply of feedstock.

Also looks like they have no worries about Abengoa. Mini-grid to start construction.

Interestingly Fortune referenced sustainability alongside vanadium again. More fuel to the fire that we are going to see greater emphasis on the environmental credentials of the company - recyclable / reusable / circular economy for vanadium in the enhanced market positioning piece. Lemur has to go.

Same old interview as the last 3 years? That is imo, a somewhat lazy comment driven by frustration with the share price and a lack of comms in Q1. Perhaps give some leeway to the fact there has been a global pandemic for the last year.

It is worth remembering that Bushveld have grown their vanadium business from nothing in 4 years, with less than 300% dilution and juxtapose that against what has actually been achieved given we are now pitching for Eskom, building an electrolyte plant and will be hitting nearly treble our original production towards the end of this year with 2 out of 4 processing facilities outside China.
