DHC . I know precisely what the EWT is for! Yesterday we had an RNS with an costed acquisition. We have very little hard independently verified data - end of and yes I hold 16.5m shares so I am not deramping. I am simply saying we need to be patient whilst SS gets the data. If you believe in the company this is an excellent time to buy because once the numbers do the talking, then if SS has been telling the truth, the SP should fly on massive volumes.

DHC , I know little about HUR but a lot about SXX as it is a share that I have traded in and out of over the last few years. Whilst I like what I hear and agree with much of your posts where are the hard facts? Numbers that i can quantify ie a amount of wells , with b amount of oil , c production for how many years, d forecast Costs. e) a costed program of future drilling and cash requirements. I could go on and on. At present its all a very attractive plan that sounds good but with a lack of hard factual data. This is why people can short (as well as SOLO!) . This is why we can buy cheap. If you believe in the project long term then this period will be a god send. A chance to load up before SS produces the data.Bring on the RNS's

Whatnonewsyet, I am in the financial industry and thus know exactly what institutional investors need to see before they invest client money. I have taken a punt here based on SS and tankers and his valuation of Portland having a NPV of £200m (per the interview). The pro's want proper independently verified numbers that they can analyse and run forward P/E ratio's , EPS, Cash flow models etc. Yes we have oil but other than Portland no independent verification of commerciality or sustainability. I suspect that SS is very aware what the market needs and this is why he is taking his time. He knows that whilst tanker sightings keep up morale the sp needs hard independent data which will only be available when testing is done and it is crunched.

Dahmed you mention SXX and HUR. You ask why they can produce nothing and have a £1bn Mcap whereas we have oil and a MCap under £100m? The answer is simple. They have a proper business plan which people can number crunch and value. We have nothing to analyse just SS ramblings about multiple wells etc. It is actually why I have invested because (unless SS is lying) eventually there will be proper numbers and a proper business plan. Then you will get lift off!

Scandic please do not post unresearched carp. P49 of the latest accounts shows that SS has a £240,000 salary and has received additional remuneration totalling £339,000 by way of shares over the last 2 years.

The Europeans were never going to budge until the deal was rejected or certain to be rejected. The parliamentary debate has revealed the mood of the house and what is needed to be amended. We all await the RNS but in the meantime I thought I would post my thoughts. The potential is well summarised by DHC and in SS’s rambling interview. The substance remains to be put in place. We need proper data that is independently verified and can be number crunched by analysts and institutional investors. We have evidence of oil and declared commerciality at Portland which SS says gives us a NPV of £200m. That should in time translate to an Sp of 3-4p with potential on top. Why isn’t it 3-4p now? Sentiment and trust basically. Aim companies have a habit of saying one thing and then doing a placing. For my part , perhaps I am naive and too trusting, but I remain optimistic that SS is not lying and that this will put smiles on our faces in 2019.

Nice to see the intellectually derelict crew out in force today. It isn't a duster there are oil tankers!!! What we don't know is whether it is commercial. If you haven't sold you haven't lost a penny so chill and wait for the RNS. Portland alone secures a long term sp of 3-4p so the comments here show woeful lack of research. Perhaps these "investors" should have stayed in the casino because they clearly know nothing about investing.

BS colourful language does not help. I do not go with the siren voices of doom and gloom but clearly we will have some short term negative economic impact. Hopefully longer term new deals will kick in. But in the here and now the economy must be robust to protect the old, the sick and the needy. The selfish can say that they do not care but they would care if it was them or their child who was denied an operation. Cushioning any adverse short term pain is responsible government. BUT Brexit must happen. As I said I am unsure of whether May has delivered, I am sure that I want an end to this mess.

Ok Cyan , I will answer your question. What value is 5% of a mining company which has yet to mine anything and you have no control whatsoever? Answer very little unless the major player makes it profitable. In a private company you can hold 49% and the 51% share holder ensures there is no profit by taking all the proceeds via salary. In that situation the shares are of little value. How much would the 51% shareholder pay for the 49% shares? It follows that what UKOG paid for a minority holding bears little relation to the current market cap!

Pboo you post in a very knowledgeable fashion and it makes me question who you are and what your background is? Your reply to hopenpray was very matter of fact but we have not had any of those “facts” confirmed by RNS. At best an educated guess then? Which is where I am on the financial modelling. Tymers, I have looked and followed the breadcrumbs and ran some numbers . Vague numbers run on assumptions. I like what I see but that is not the same as having independently verified numbers.

Chitty I am an investment professional too. The problem is that we have little consistent data to analyse per my email below. The professionals can’t number crunch data that isn’t there and we need a proper detailed RNS. Thus at the moment the pro investors are holding back, Pi’s are trusting SS and buying whilst sophisticated shorters are at work. The game will change for better or worse once we get some proper hard independent data.

Hi Starbright I am a DFM and we clearly both have exactly the same objectives. Neither to ramp nor deramp but to drill down to the truth. The SS interview is maddening in its inconsistency. From what I can make out Portland on its own SS believes should have a NPV of circa 200m. The rest of the interview is garbled sounds promising but impossible to number crunch ,the oilers have not been able to clarify. Given current mcap a patient investor looks pretty secure here with the Sp looking undervalued by at least 50% based solely on Portland, hence my willingness to top up. Sentiment is irrational and clearly we have distrust and shorting at work. How do you see things here?

Rich, unless you have sold you have lost nothing. I get totally fed up with people going on about paper losses. If you don’t sell your share quantity remains the same it’s just that if you were thinking of selling today the price is low. In fact since the price is low , if you are an investor rather than some get rich quick nil research gambler you might take the opportunity to buy more ( depending on the balance of your portfolio). I get the feeling that lots of people here threw in some money hoping that they would multi bag for Xmas and the closer it gets the more desperate they become. This still could be 4-5p for Xmas on a stellar RNS but in the meantime bleating away here achieves nothing and bores the pants off people.

Will & Darko Its called £ cost averaging. No one knows the bottom. No one knows when an RNS will land. I was happy to buy under 2p based on Portland. You can be too clever waiting for the bottom only for a stellar RNS to land and find yourself paying 5p plus. Also Darko you could "buy them all" at 1.49 only for it to fall further.In contrast I can keep buying as it falls (unless the investment case alters). How about if I had done my "buy them all" at 4p or 5p?

I have been happy to pick up shares bit by bit on the drop. 1.49. 1.59, 1.69, 1.77. I learned long ago with volatile stocks not to pile in. Am very surprised to get the opportunity to buy at these levels but I have adopted a 2 year view and believe that Portland alone merits a higher sp. Very relaxed. Bring on the RNS!
