Shorts are taken out alongside a long position, there is no large short positions in ITV. Much of the lacklustre performance of ITV is down to Dame McCall, her lack of transparency is a bad thing. She said at the start ITV were not in competition with Netflix, Prime and the other big streamers, so who were ITV in competition with Auntie Beeb? One gaff after another and then that ITVx announcement in March 2022 went down worse than Liz Truss's budget. So she change direction and instead of informing shareholders of her aspirations, the woman announces it out of the blue, that alone was not only reckless but showed the City she thought she was still at Easyjet announcing a new route.

I know they say she is loved by the staff, but that isn't a reason to invest in a company. Thursday will come with all longs wishing and hoping she will tell us ITV's latest numbers are fantastic. I now think that ITV needs a new younger non woke CEO. Dame Carolyn is way past her sell by date!

Tom, the Police are investigating if any crime is has been committed, no smoke without fire seems possible but unlikely. I agree with you that Schofield should have been fired as soon as McCall knew 2 years ago he was in a relationship with a lad. If you know TV, you know that It is very very difficult for any graduate to get a job at ITV, so the fact the lad was propelled into a job for ITV stinks of preferential treatment. BTW most people start as a 'runner' or 'researcher' in TV.

I think ITV are a strong buy because the sum of the parts are at last twice the Mkt Cap. However I believe McCall should go, the whole board should be culled for new blood, too many gaffs and own goals have hammered the sp, any other sector she would have gone in March 2022 when at exactly the wrong time she announced ITVx....we will see on the 27th if she deserves any credit for ITVx. Other companies have good press and shareholder relations, McCall just hides away until another gaff becomes public....she should go even if ITVx stuns us all with some sort of miraculous set of numbers which imo aint on the cards. If I am wrong then I will be the first to eat humble pie.

ITV are due to report on July 27th, just hope it's a good report without McCall putting he Jimmy Choo's firmly into the fray.

With regard to the BBC presenter, how can anyone accuse the parents of blackmail, there are some dumb people posting on here aren't there Tom. Is it normal nowadays for a young lad to have a zoom clip of a BBC presenter sitting in his abode wearing just underpants....something is out of order.

Whatever happens now, this is another nail in the BBC coffin. Bad news now that over a million over 75's are not buying the BBC TV licence, also the BBC know this and are doing nothing to pursue the OAP's...well at least they realise it would be near impossible and very unpopular to go after OAP's alrady struggling to live a normal life in this cost of living crisis.

all of this goes back a long way to the reckless decision to make juncker eu president... david cameron told merkel that anti uk ****head juncker for eu president would be bad for britain and the eu and we could exit the eu, but merkel got juncker the job and cameron was spot on with his forecast. merkel today with her reputation well tarnished by bad policies and her sucking up to putin and making germany rely on russian energy. merkel now says that the eu should have given cameron what he wanted and blames juncker's intransigence.

We have get our sovereignty back and that is a huge Brexit achievement. The trade deals with the rest of the world are happening. The EU won't want to be left out of Britain's future.

The benefits of Brexit haven't been seen yet because of Covid and Putin, time will tell. In 2016 Britain exported £572.9bn worth of goods and services and imported £612bn. Latest figures show the figures were £802.7bn and £883bn. So the numbers are better not worse.

Globally Britain ranks fifth for FDI (foreign direct investment) and second for inward FDI. Brexit has not turned Britain into a global backwater...far from it!

No to any share buy back, if the report on 27th is any good, a special dividend for long suffering shareholders might be a way back to showing confidence in the company. I read somewhere that some institutions had approached the board with a view to replacing McCall, so it is possible her days are numbered.

Why would anyone offer more than a £1 a share for ITV....because institutions who own the majority of shares wouldn't accept an offer that low. The share price and Mkt Cap in a bombed out market shouldn't be relied on to indicate what the company is worth. John Malone of Liberty owns 9.9% of ITV, other funds own the majority of the rest...I think any bid would have to be realistic to tempt any of these big players to part with enough shares to allow a takeover.

Banijay the French company were in talks about buying the studios back in February, ITV didn't go for it!

McCall needs to go, then let a new CEO get ITV in order before spending a billion pounds buying something Warner don't want! Malone would love a deal, it's good for him to depress the ITV sp...what's going on here is a last ditch attempt by McCall to hold on to her job!

Don't quiet get how people moaning can depress the sp. I rate a strong buy because it's not in freefall, it's not really doing too bad considering the times. Mccall looked haggered in today's questioning, maybe she should throw the towel in for the sake of ITV, too many mistakes.
