That makes perfect sense Contrarian. Looks like somebody has offloaded their 5-10% stake in the last 2 days in advance of the results.
Are you serious!! Tom, a 10% stake in ITV would amount to 425 million shares and change, so do us all a favour and stop posting utter drivel. The market in ITV shares is small and atm it is easy for MM's to control it, nobody is dumping stock, If some large holder Trust or a pirate like John Malone were to sell 10%, do you think the trade would have an effect on the 1000 shares Joe Blogs just sold for 60p. It would, because depending on the reason for the sale, the sp would be up or down at least 10%.
LWLH....The dividend should be safe on the grounds that they have just announced a share buyback, share buybacks should be the last thing ITV should do if the dividend isn't safe. If they don't honour the dividend after announcing a share buyback, McCall will be toast.
Poker Chip or Poke might be more suitable. Your crusade to have us believe Schofield's 8 year dalliance with a young lad is normal and just what everybody does, might indicate that you are a member of the rainbow fraternity. I think it's time you stopped all the crusading and realised that you are in a minority. I personally do not care what consenting adults do behind closed doors, that is up to them. But this man put another nail in ITV's coffin while also ruining the lives of others namely his wife two daughters and the young lad who is now a pariah. He also cost jobs within ITV and also failed to report his brother's vile perversions.
Very sad that you think it's all normal, but is your world it probably is!
Poker....only an idiot would pipe up about sitting on losses as an excuse for posting drivel. Do not flatter yourself to even think you have a clue, you are small fry investor and it shows. Best you keep your own counsel and stop whining about how badly Schofield and McCall have been bashed for their dismantling of ITV.
Poker....So now you think the Police and Schofield's lawyers will be after a poster on this free BB for saying what you consider to be so terrible, doyou ever care a thought for those who trusted Schofield. What planet are you on, visit a few blogs and TwitterX and see thousands of posts and tweets that are ten times worse than anything posted on here.
Grow up man!
pokerchips....there is a general name for those who forecast things after those things happening. the name is a 'silly ******' and you fit the mantle by posting 'what did we expect when in march 2022 the sp fell due to the late launch of itvx'.....what did the market expect? well if you care to go back and read the press about the mistimed strategy, you may be able to grasp that it was not expected due to mccall's lack of acumen and understanding pr.
poker, your chips are low and we all know why!
Ten quick reasons why Dame Wokey McCall has been a disaster.
1..Box ticking wokeness. 2. A CEO who actually listened to a Z list ham actress for advice, solely because the actress was a royal by marriage. 3. Allowed a male presenter of a flagship show to live a double life with a male youth while faking a happy marriage. 4. Zero communication or responsibility to shareholders. 5. Announces a streaming operation 4 years to late thus causing a freefall in the share price. 6. Allowed a senior Board Member Radcliffe to sell his stake in ITV which amounted to a £600k deal which saw the start of the sp dropping 25%. 7. Gaff after gaff, bad decision after bad decision. 8. Never since day one ever getting the press on the company's side, a totally useless PR operative. 10. Share price has fallen over 60% since McCall arrived.
There are just some people on this thread who should not be defending the indefensible.
Several of us have sent e-mails, she never replies personally. But I doubt she has much to say that would help us understand how she has allowed a once household name with a Mkt Cap of £11bn to become a penny share with a Mkt Capof 2.3bn! Drop her a line POGO,she might send you signed photo!

POGO, are you thick or just blind to what has occurred at ITV. Calling people trolls because they don't agree with your views is childish and shows you don't have a clue how a company should be run. McCall has been a disaster and should have been fired 23 months ago in March 2022. You will be cheering if next month we get a good report, but you shouldn't be feeling great because even if the share price goes up 25% to 75p, it is still down by 50%. No sir, critics here are not trolls, they are just investors who see Dame Woke as the failure she is. All of the childish accusations of trolling because savvy investors see ITV as a jam tomorrow dog with fleas just shows that you haven't a clue. Matters not that its a female boss, she has been a terrible CEO...don't believe me, have a long look at ITV's dismal performance since she was hired.
As anyone here knows, I am not a fan of McCall or any of the chiefs at ITV. But, and it is a but, there are mutterings in the media world that ITV are going to come up with a better than expected report. I have my doubts as such knowledge may be a wild rumour and if it has substance the trades today indicate not! I have enough ITV to hope it's got some truth in it, but I am not holding my breath. The next three weeks price movement will be interesting as any positive talk from insiders would reach those in the City. If there is any truth in any of it, it would be a boost for McCall's sagging reputation . If indeed anything can save her! I rate it a strong buy because it looks super cheap, but I am not tipping it!
POGO...you sound like a UKIP ee or Trumpanzee or 'Q' conspiracy theorist, or perhaps just plain barmy. Why? in all of the world's media stocks would Russian trolls visit this ITV free bb. No mate, it isn't Russian trolls here, it is a stagnant stockmarket allowing MM's to manipulate, they have been on this share for months. Big money knows that the big streamers need eyeballs paying monthly and their coffers can no longer afford endless new shows, the answer is consolidation and ITV have plenty of it, they also have studios and a loyal audience. ITV has all to offer and the question is who will be the streamer that moves first.
JedC...the post wasn't a rant, read it again, it is a statement of fact. Is the dividend safe? if ad revenue is worse than expected the dividend could be cut. I agree with you on McCall not giving a damn for ordinary shareholders, so I would not bank on a safe dividend. Thanks for your advice to sell and move on, you really are an echo of dumbness!!
On 8 January 2018, following seven years as easyJet chief executive, McCall became the first female chief executive of commercial broadcaster ITV. She replaced Adam Crozier in the role. She is a creator of BritBox, a subscription video service venture in partnership with the BBC which launched of late 2019 in the UK. She said "It's quite bold, going into a market which Netflix has already been in for eight years."[16] She closed BritboxUK in 2022 when it was replaced by ITVX.
McCall earned a £3.7 million salary at ITV in 2018. Her 2019 base salary was set to increase by 2.5 per cent "in line with the wider employee group". In April 2020, McCall along with other senior executives took a 20% pay cut in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. McCall's pay in 2022/3 was £3.5 million.
In June 2023, she appeared before the Culture, Media and Sport Committee, where she was interrogated by Caroline Dinenage about the culture at ITV following the Philip Schofield scandal.
On January 31st 2018 the ITV share price stood at £1.67p valuing ITV at £7 billion, this morning the share price is a lowly 59p and struggling. Unless ITV have something good to offer next month imo the share price will not recover. McCall has been a disaster, anyone who doesn't get it must be blind. Sad thing is, if the share price recovers to 83p, the company has lost half it's Mkt Cap in her failed six years. Dreadful performance and in truth she should have gone years ago, but reward for failure is still rife in this country.
What has the Dame done wrong? well taking the share price down from 150p to the 58.70p it was at around 9 this morning, Take that for starters, but it may be more apt to ask what has she done right. I hope she has been able to bring some cheer into the coming results. If things look bleak, then I honestly think she will be gone, any bad news on the dividend and she will be gone. As far as I can see it panning out, she needs a miracle to please the city. ITV has got a lot of parts to it, it is valuable to more than one of those big streamers, so I will stay long as long for the time being.
schofield didn't break the law, no he probably didn't break the laws of the land, however his conduct in having a relationship with a young man who he had met when the boy was 14, is questionable. i think schofield came out as *** when he knew the papers had the story....it's not ok for a man to portray that he's a pipe and slippers family man who has been *** all of his life, it is dishonest and the lad was not the first. maybe it's ok for some people to think it's nothing, but it just happens to be unacceptable to the silent majority. schofield cost holly her job and sanity, he is a fraud and deserves all he got!
schofield conned everybody even dame mccall, the scandal wiped millions off the sp, and like all scandals it left a stench which has been hard to get over.
I am long ITV and losing big in the hope the share price takes off if we get some half decent numbers in March or McCall sees fit to utter an update. I am still laughing at the POGO comment about Russian trolls and subterfuge considering that anyone with a computer or i phone can see the volumes and check the sp at anytime. If anyone is messing about with this share, POGO should look closer to home and the Marketmakers who control things. Now that's a conspiracy that may have legs, lol!
Lots of stupid discussions about Dame... like before, one multiple accounts russian troll.
Pogo001....What a statement, Russian Trolls, conspiracies, fairies at the bottom of the garden, what a joke you are. Why not just let people think you are a numpty instead of posting about Russian trolls and cementing their view. You post like a person who hasn't a clue about too much so why not get over to Facebook and tell them about the Russian trolls posting on LSE about ITV. Very sad that these idiots are allowed to post, POGO your technical observations are not technical, they are your opinion and nothing more than any idiot could post about any share here or any stockmarket on the globe.
JedClampit...I was firmly behind Dame McCall for a long time and I was ready to support her through these bad times. However one cannot keep supporting a CEO who has made so many bad decisions and one who hasn't shown any enthusiasm to keep us informed on everything. Sadly she can be compared to Paula Vennels the Post Office CEO, who strangely was blind to 'seeing the wood for the trees' and she has alienated the City and all of us who hold stock in this once FTSE 100 company. Scandals, Gaffs, Ultra Wokeness have all gone toward Dame McCall's place as one of the most unpopular CEO's in the FTSE 250. Geez, just think of any FTSE company where a senior board member sells their entire shareholding prior to the sp falling 25%. Anyone not seen what Netflix management has achieved in the last 18 months, their sp is heading back to it's pre-pandemic highs so McCall will not be able to refer to them if things are worse!
Only a miracle can save McCall, that miracle being an update to say things are much better than they expected and a positively terrific report in March. If that were to happen, she may regain my backing, but atm the sp suggests that ain't gonna happen.
Cont123, are you serious no one would want the TV side? I would advise you to trawl ITV and ITVx and do the same with all the others. ITV Studios are worth more than today's Mkt Cap £2.4bn as many experts say the studios are worth £3bn.
The TV side is equally valuable, maybe more so, the production and a back catalogue of 1,000's of hours of proven comedy and drama are worth a fortune if they were for sale. So we go on to Britbox with BBC's fine addition all those programmes have never been exploited by ITV....anyone here know that reruns of US shows such as 'Seinfeld' 'Hawai Five O' 'Starsky and Hutch' turn in millions today as they go out all over the world. ITV have a treasure chest but not one bright person doing anything about it. No sir! ITV as a whole and as a going concern with all of it's undervalued goodwill and assets would be snapped up in a minute by Netflix, Amazon, Apple and a bunch of European entities. What you don't seem to understand is an ITV takeover would have to have Government approval and that stops a lot of action happening.
Remember that Murdoch was blocked and at the time he had access by agreement from funds to a majority of the shares. Today I agree it may be slightly different for a predator, but you had better believe the company at £2.4 billion Mkt Cap could go for £10 billion if it was just a case of buying it.
