Solley, here is the lowdown on Liberty. They paid 185p per share in 2014, they would have received dividends and written options on their stake, so the actual amount would now be substantially less than the £259.8 million. However, I doubt Liberty would entertain selling at the low price ITV is today, they are well aware that any lowball offer would bring others to the table and Liberty may well be throwing their hat in!!!

I am not a fan of anyone, Clarkson, Edmonds or any other TV personality, I made a post regarding Edmonds that you obviously took offence to, I was polite and did not intend offence least of all to any blowhards who suddenly turn up on a free BB. I guess you are one of Edmond's fans who know little of why Edmonds career ended so abruptly. I can assure you that those who worked with Edmonds have little respect for him. Unfortunately the bullying, self absorbed little creep thought he was bigger than the producers, writers, director and crew etc and that is why the BBC let him go.

Spaghetti...there is little happening in the stock market because they are all on holiday, it isn't just ITV, it's every stock. Daytraders, banks and fund managers tend to all migrate to warmer climes between mid June and mid September. It's triple witching this Friday which will show the market's Summer slowdown, it happens every year, so stop thinking your investment is like a bet on the 3.30 at Ascot.

There is no need to worry about the lack of up or down movements in ITV or any other FTSE shares. MM's who are at their desks are asleep wishing they were on sunny beaches. Look at the volumes and they will tell you that the market is slow or stopped. I would wager ITV's buyback is not having any luck either, nobody is selling at 80p, so those thinking these are going down to 60p are dreaming. A major event would perhaps see a sell off, but most doom has already been baked in!!

Try comparing ITV output to the BBC. BBC sports, drama and news blow ITV out of the water. No chance of competing with such a world class broadcaster as the Beeb.

Wake up Tom! Up to a million households cancelled their licence fee last year as the BBC struggled to connect with younger audiences drifting away to Youtube, Netflix and free to air.

i am no lover of mccall, but she is not the catalyst in itv's future, other younger heads are at work. anyone ****ging itv off should have a look at the dross on netflix and prime and compare the two main players who offer nothing free. a lot of people are ditching sky, a lot ditching the rest of them. itv will build on those streams, it's a safe buy.

Another clear indication that ITV business model no longer works when ITV cannot even make money from the top Club Football tournament in the world and it is left to the BBC to put in a low bid for the rights.

I can't fathom your comments above. A brokers note will pop up soon with BUY on it and it will be followed up with a re-rating. WimTom, with a dividend of 6.3% and a billion streams in July, if you aren't on board, you will be left at the post nursing your doom wounds...you know I am right!!!

It is not rocket science, buying and selling is dormant, most trades are between MM's and mean zilch therefore the sp is dead and will remain so until next month. The ancient adage is "Sell in May and go away" is an adage referring to the historically weaker performance of stocks from May to October compared with the other half the year.

Since 1990, the S&P 500 has averaged a return of about 3% annually from May to October versus about 6.3% from November to April. Based on historical data, investors could try to capitalize on the pattern by rotating to less economically sensitive stocks from May to October.

However, for most investors, the best strategy in general is to buy and hold equities while ignoring the noise.

Jed, I can't agree, the Dame has just underperformed, look at the share prices of competitors such as Netflix and you will see the huge difference. ITV were too late to streaming, too late to fix gaffs such as Schofield and Kyle, much as I dislike Piers Morgan, he got viewers for GMB and on Meghan Markle's phone call she let him go.....the list goes on and the City didn't like it.

Synic, I tend to agree with your take on things, she knows only too well how investors have lost their shirts, the Britbox money should have gone direct to shareholders in a special dividend, but McCall and her failing board scuppered that deal.

The ITV share price will not soar because of a buyback plan, it will also not crater for the same reasons. ITV's share price is held up because it offers a good dividend, there are no pundits out there who have ITV as a flyer. It is a reasonably safe bet to an institution to hold ITV as maybe the only UK TV independent competing with the big players. Many people were expecting Dame Woke to surprise us last month, but as usual she gave us nothing. It used to be 'jam tomorrow' but now even the jam has dried up!!

Her resignation along with cull of of a dull, boring, woke, sedentary BoD would put 10% plus on the share price, but I doubt it will happen. It amazes me that several on here have watched this company lose 50% of it's market cap under McCall's stewardship and actually tell us all she is a good CEO. One empty head on here actually believes Russian trolls are at work against Dame Woke, now that is a belief only a very disturbed person would hold. No Russians, no conspiracies, no devil at work, the Dame just cannot compete with the younger, dynamic innovative people who run the competition.

Jedclampit, your faith in the Pantomime Dame is commendable and I hope it pays off for you this decade, however barring a bid there is no way this breaks out of the rut it is stuck in. At 80p the share price is 87p or over 50% down since January 2018 when she arrived. Six and half years and we still scrape the bottom, how can you support the failings.

The City do not like her, shareholders do not like her, she is a Jonah, a blight, for heck's sake she has had her time GO!!!!

I am out this morning, just left what I had left inn my ISA's....It has become clear that Dame McCall should be on her way. I read the fans she has on here and can only think they live in cloud cuckoo land. Because of averaging and dividends my losses are contained, but compared to the rest of my portfolio McCall's ITV is the worst performer.

They may go up on some good news like a bid or McCall slings her hook, but I am sick of the 'jam tomorrow' and the a share price that has lost 50% of it's value since she took the helm!!!

I wouldn't bet against the book, three things of late indicate ITV will get re-rated. 1. There is a dearth in shares available, thin volumes. 2. Shorts have reduced. 3. Level 2 Sells taken out way over bid/offer as soon as any build up occurs.

I am not a fan of McCall but something has changed the scenario. I wait and see if the interim is encouraging tomorrow before I support her!

ITV are about to give a reassuring interim report tomorrow if City whispers are to be believed. If that proves to be true it will put a few pence on the sp.
