This share reached a high of 256 on the 22 march 2024, I check around the same date each year, so if it reaches the same value again this year, then i haven't lost any capital and received around 8% dividend, so not to shabby, ideally i would like to see it rise a bit higher each year

The dividend is around 20.34p a year, so if the share price was to reduce by that amount every year it would be a total waste of time investing here, i realise you can have a good year and a bad year, but you have to look at the total returns from your investment

most of my international tracker funds have had a growth of over 10% per year

To say the share price is of no importance is total nonsense, don't get blinded by the dividend, the total returns matter very much, the only time a low share price is an advantage is if your buying otherwise you want it to go as high as possible

Hi Dan, nah not at all i was only joking, in fact things have never been better, i currently have 5 shares in profit, pheonix,legal&general,m&g,aviva and also lloyds is doing very well, i have 3 shares in temporary loss that's persimmon and Taylor Wimpey and UK wind, then Vodafone which is not a problem, the main reason they are doing well is the build up to ex dividend on March/ April, and this is the reason I'm thinking of locking in profits incase of a difficult year, and usually they drop more than the dividend, just a change of tactics that may of course backfire on me

Hi Gary, I only have one share that pays a good dividend that also has an increasing capital and that's Aviva, i bought them in the £3.80s and they are now over £5, but i will be looking to sell off some of my other shares before exdiv providing they rise high enough

Vodafone is a lot more difficult to predict, i no longer have any expectations for this share after so many years of disappointment, but keep hoping it will improve

Mole, i don't think the UK problems have got started yet, April onwards the budget changes will start to hurt, also with the FTSE at an all time high, I'm thinking of selling off some of my UK shares before they go xdiv to lock in profit's , as i have a feeling i will be able to buy the same shares back for less later in the year

Mole's best mate Trumpy is playing hell with the market's guys, we will have to put our tin hats on and prepare for a bumpy ride

Agree, very disappointing indeed, my capital loss is a lot more than the dividends, i just hope i get an opportunity to sell up without taking a loss

Yes HL are more expensive, but there's the hassle of changing plus the fact that I'm slowly reducing my number of shares and increasing my funds, which HL don't charge for buying and selling

RogerA, I'm envious of that average, that's a really good dividend income yield from that ,mine is £2.02 here, I have a low average with Aviva, and it's a good feeling knowing they never go into the red, don't think i will sell them as i know i won't be able to buy them back for the same price, will wait to see how much this one rises too

Anything is possible, but i expect it's just climbing on approach to exdiv just like my other shares, plus the FTSE is rising

I'm happy either way as i intend holding this one for the excellent dividend

Hi soton, yes i resisted as well, I think it was for the best as it's coming up to dividend time
