Jatw, this is currently trading in mid range, so why buy mid range, when you know there's a good chance you will loose it all and more after xdiv, and as with all of my dividend shares it's always good to know there's been no loss in capital each year

Personally i haven't decided yet whether i will sell on Wednesday or hold and add more after the drop

If you can get a good dividend yield with no loss of capital your onto a winner, Aviva has been doing exceptionally well over the last few years with a good dividend and also capital appreciation

Dan, the problem is we have been thinking this is under valued for many years, yet it has kept on dropping and dropping

so where are we now, under valued over valued or just about right, personally i think and hope it has a bit more to give, but i don't know how much, does anyone?, that's why i try to diversify, it's not for everyone i know, but something to think about, Vodafone has not been the easiest share to make a profit on that's for sure

hopefully we will get a bit closer to 80p next week

Not sure why anyone would want to buy m&g shares at this current time and price, why not wait until after xdiv and pick them up for under £2

Avocet123, to be fair though, if he's bought these in the 60s he will have more chance of making a profit than i do, the question is by how much will it rise and will it be worth it when you compare the total returns from Vodafone against other shares that pay a better dividend and possibly more capital appreciation, if only we knew the answers

Gmed-2, it depends when you bought the Vodafone shares, for most people who have bought over the last 10 years, they are now worth a lot lot less, the small number of people who bought more recently might be ok

does anyone give a f*ck about buybacks, surely everyone just wants to see the share price rising as much as possible

Savage you say this is a defensive stock? have you checked the last 10 year chart, it's anything but, i hope it is a recovering stock though

Dan, as long as market determines the value of vod to be higher every day i will be happy with that, LTI sounds like one of my scratched records

LTI, I was taking the mickey mate to get a reaction from you, Vodafone is on a good run at the moment, not quite reached a 10 year high like Aviva, but every little helps

have cancelled my auto reinvest with HL, so back to my old method of pooling all my dividends together and reinvesting where and when of my choice

Dan, it's a bit complicated to change right now as I have a mixture of shares,fund and investment trusts, I will see what they say in the morning and I may do as you suggest and cancel the autoreinvest, the reason for doing it that way is because there were no charges, but I think they are ripping me off

Hi all. I've noticed with HL the amount i received in dividends is a lot more than what they have auto reinvested for me, anyone else noticed the same thing happening, going to phone them in the morning

Unlucky, HL always gives incorrect figures after market close, you have to wait until after 5pm for them to correct

Hi Dan, Vodafone has been doing very well lately, i was keeping quiet about that for fear of jinxing it, would be great to see this back in the 80s again though, we came very close last September when it went just over 78p then came tumbling down again, let's hope it can keep going this time

Lti, let's hope it's worth the wait, as it's not worth holding just for the reduced dividend alone, an increase in share price would be very much appreciated here especially for the longer term holders looking to recover some losses

LTI and Fleccy, does any of this help to determine what the share price will be in 6 or 12 months time, or if the dividend will be cut or increased, if not what is the point in it? stop arguing over total nonsense like a couple of kids
