Thanks for your reply, its a case of some you win some you lose, but hopefully this will be a much better year for investors and a good time for topping up, lets hope this might be the year for Saga to come good

Looking at my holding being 71% in loss on Saga, the bad apple of my portfolio, I find it very difficult to share you enthusiasm, as this started its decline before corona virus, but do hope your right ??

Well sp seems to be slowly rising and some divvy being paid, think you could do a lot worse, quite happy here at the moment

I can understand you new investors getting in close to the bottom price here, being optimistic, and good luck to you , but for longer holders like myself watching it going downhill, the next Debenhams comes to mind ??, but hope not
Luckily I'm in no hurry to sell, so quite happy to sit it out for a few years, and hopefully watch it recover and pick up some dividends on the way, worst share in my portfolio for sure

We have been in full lockdown since before xmas , here in Wales hence the time on my hands at the moment

Unfortunately, it's not over yet, but thank goodness we got hope of a brighter future with the vaccine being rolled out, been a sad year for a lot of people, got to look forward to better times

Totally agree with you guys, cant understand so many people including health care workers, saying they don't want the vaccine, I will be holding both arms out saying please jab me, so we can get some normality back into everyone's lives , it's been a really bad time for so many people , lets hope for better times this year

It's just been a dream last year, lets hope we are living that dream this year

CSD1962 RE: Banks etc. 2007, a friend of mine started investing just after the 2008 crash buying shares for around 15p and up to the covid time were valued well over the £3.00 mark, so i guess sometimes it's about timing as well as the company, but good on you having the experience to turn it around

Hi Dan Re: Saga louts lol, think the biggest drop is down to their 2 new cruise ships being grounded due to covid at the moment, but agree on their prices, and poss. less risk topping up on vod
I have another 18 months before reaching retiring age of 66 so trying to make the most of any investment opportunities while prices are low
don't normally post much on these boards, but currently on furlough and also lockdown, so apologise if going a little off topic a little, making the most of getting some tips from you more experienced investors at the moment

for me I have topped up what I thought are my best ones i.e.. aviva, lgen, lloyds, question is what to do with your biggest losers, which for me are vod. and saga , get in deeper to average down or just leave as they are ? what do you guys do in these situations ?

Hi Dan , I agree with you there, you have to accept they go up and down, when I bought my vod shares all seemed to be good at the time and with good dividends a crystal ball would be handy in this game, but it's only a paper loss unless you need to sell, so fingers crossed we may get rewarded this year

I'm into Lloyds ,aviva ,lgen ,vod and saga been selling or reducing some of my less performing funds to lower my average on aviva,lgen and lloyds, right or wrong not bothered with my to biggest loss shares vod and saga not complaining guys it's a good buzz when things are going well , and you have to accept it when they are not and try to improve, hopefully we will get a better year than last
how are you guys finding it

Good morning CSD1 and happy new year to you too, my aim is trying to build up my modest sip and stocks and shares Isa , I also have made a few bad choices at the wrong time, but who hasn't ? I'm hoping I have learned a few things by not investing too much in one product and going for international funds instead of uk only, I tried to pick shares paying high dividends but too many in the red at the moment, anyone reading this please don't take advice from me as I'm pretty crap at this, and come on here trying to pick up tips from you more experienced guys

csd I like your advice, I have picked a few bad ones, but luckily by spreading things out it's helped to balance things out, maybe you can give me some tips in the new year
