Heid - I know. The biggest weapon the scaremongers have when trying to manipulate the market have is disinformation and lack of knowledge by the other investors to see through it. itshenderz - Anyone who held from the lows would have been mad not to take profit at the highs. It's zero surprise they did. You also had Link Fund needing to get rid of their shares as per their mandate. So it doesn't take a genius to have expected this. Although I do realise you'd have been hard pressed to find anyone on here saying that. Why do you think I didn't buy until it came down to this price ;) The mistake people make is assuming that just because it's gone down or is going down it will always continue to do so. There were reasons for it to come back down just as there's reasons there is appetite for the stock at this level. Sometimes all it takes is the price to start rising for it to become a virtuous circle again....but many people will be crying bloody murder until that happens.

Dave - They did. Lansdowne increased their position by 4.2million shares. Although they've also taken some profit during the highs (understandably as they doubled their money in a short space of time).

You also won't see a disclosable interest unless the stake is above £1.5m roughly. So the stakes would have to be pretty large to be notifiable. Even someone who took £1m wouldn't be required to disclosed.

The short-term price in a market is usually just a reflection of the short-term buying and selling.
They raised £14m at this price not long ago. That's significant money being paid to take a stake in the potential at this price.
Nothing has changed, other than people's emotions, because they focus on the share price rather than the fundamentals, which have not changed.

LimaLiam - presumably because there's no damage to treat the at earlier the stage. So it's only effective in only those who've got to a stage where there's enough of that damage for it to help with.

Correction - Stop people dying = stop some people dying (as obviously it only reduced deaths by a third)

LimaLiam - Try to think of it like this. The virus attacks the body. The immune response is wide ranging and can itself cause problems. IFN-B helps moderate/regulate this response to work properly. Sometimes this immune response can get out of control and damage the body (cytokine storm). This steroid probably helps reduce some of the inflammation once things are getting out of control. So it's no magic bullet for the virus - but helps lessen some of the late-stage effect enough to stop people dying. I think that's it in a nutshell.

Sharedealer - I don't think it would be used in conjunction with dexamethasone. In fact I think dexa would likely inhibit the effectiveness of IFN-B. However, assuming both work, you would logically treat early stage cases with inhaled IFN-B and then if that didn't work, and they got to a severe case, you would use the dexamethasone, because dexamethasone doesn't do anything for the non-severe cases according to the study.

That'd finally be a good news story coming out of Britain.....if we first find a drug that reduces mortality in severe COVID cases (dexamethasone).....and then later in summer one that stops people getting to that severe stage in the first place (SNG's inhaled IFN-B).

New results showing the drug dexamethasone helps with late-stage COVID patients (but no effect on those who didn't require respiratory support). So they can reduce the number of people with critical cases dying a bit. Still need some good old IFN-B to stop them getting to that stage.

And whilst we're all waiting patiently, there's plenty of craziness going on in the world, in the insane year that is 2020.....
- India and China killing each others soldiers on their border (World War 3)
- Dijon in France has turned into all out armed gang war in public
- North Korea has blown up the (empty) liason office with South Korea
- Beijing reporting COVID situation is extremely severe with new spike in cases

At least Charlie Brooker's review of 2020 will be a cracker....if we make it to the end of the year that is!
