@Monty888 - I think that some hedge funds are clever, and others just jump in the bandwagon and follow the pack. Personally with DEB I am going to be greedy when others are fearful. As an indicator I was in a Debenhams store in Newport (one of their newly revamped ones) it was busy, looked and felt rather upmarket (compared to some quite tired, cluttered and sad looking stores I’ve seen elsewhere) and most importantly my other half was actually looking at the clothes - something she would never have done 18 months ago . . . That for me is an indicator that the strategy may well be working. Retail can turn on a sixpence, a couple of sunny weekends, a stock pick that hits the right point with the customers and things can uptick very quickly. People are being a little bovine in their view that all retail is doomed, full stop. well designed stores placed in good locations can really make among as shopping shifts from a necessity to a leisure activity. The question is can DEB execute on its strategy and turn around? For me the signs are positive. I will invest here over the next 2-3 months. Have a lovely sunny weekend - I can hear the footfall in the Newport store from here . . . Red
