All true, but you can't ignore Opecs actions which have a huge influence on prices, if world production exceeds demand then down the oil price will go.
A lot of these countries rely on revenue from oil, so I feel it's not unreasonable to see production worldwide increase and Brent fall back a little to what level I don't know.
However we are a well company and low cost producer and will make money even in a low cost environment so if exposure to oil is your thing JSE is a good choice.

Not sure I am in agreement with your last point if I have understood it correctly but my understanding is that populations in the West have been falling Europe, UK, US, Canada, Australia Japan if immigration is taken out of the equation, hence houses for €1 in Italy, and Japan opening up to allow immigration which hasn't happened before.
Since 1960 when population growth was 2% we are now at 1% and with more rights for women to choose a life they wish to lead this going to decrease further.
Not many families have more than two kids these days.

Ptal however have a good working relationship with the state run refinery which benefits both, so strengthening that bond would be wise.
If nationalisation comes about perhaps Ptal would not be a prime target as others who bob and weave over taxes are reluctant to contribute to local communities and abuse the environment while in the main just wanting to maximise profit, they would be my target.

However Venezuela a country floating on oil and using its natural assets for economic reform is bankrupted by the US actions, and its hailed as a socialist failure, it's nothing of the sort.

The only good thing about today's market reaction to the production figures is that even with the near 5% drop we are still within touching distance of our recent highs, which has maybe stopped the share price from getting ahead of its self.

Yes, nice to see the sp heading north again, since the start of the year Brent was $55 it is now $63 after falling back a little from being even higher.
In the same time frame JSE sp was around 60p which it is today, in between it flirted breaking 80p but fell back to today's levels.
Makes no sense considering we are a highly cash generative company with oil which is priced at a premium to Brent.

Winter temperatures in Kazakhstan where probably a lot lower than recent years so that may of been a factor in production being slightly down on expectations.
Even so guidance is still the same for the year so that implies no issues with the plant and businesses as usual.
Don't forget CAML is a low cost producer at the low end of the cost curve and makes free cash flow regardless of any price action of the metals mined, or if production falls a little.
Expect to be cash positive by the autumn, as things stand its been a good start to the year regarding the copper price.

Excellent results, seems to me folk soon forget how far the Cu price fell this time last year about 30%, then the leak at Sasa with its subsequent fine to put right the environmental issues all competently dealt with.
While at the same time paying down $44m off the debt leaving net debt at $36.2m come the autumn we will be cash positive if current prices hold.
Final divi of 8p seems fine to me bearing in mind profits are down 12% on 2019, in a crazy world happy to see common sense applied to solve unexpected events.

My understanding is that the AISC increase is down to an increase of the Euro against the dollar which was at a high at year end, since then it has dropped back to about 1.17 € to $, so my take is if the trend continues and the Euro weakens then that would be great for us.
The increase in AISCs might not happen or as the trend is currently won't happen.
