I wondered whether the either party might prefer one part of the business to other and start a process to get what they want and then take it private.
House builds I agree seems downbeat to me as things stand so can see that stagnating, however electrical maintenance to existing housing wouldn't be effected, with the industrial and commercial side of things hopefully being steady.
The green side of things although I agree is it really necessary? or hype, it is government backed with incentives they want investment in this area.
We only have three major shareholders so if one sold out that would be a concern but at present there is nothing to suggest this, they have increased their stakes over recent times.
In the end it will come down to financial performance, hopefully they will get it right.

Okay the PR is rubbish does that matter in the business environment we have at present, what matters is what they deliver and to be fair they are delivering more than most at a difficult time.
I don't think it is in their interests to let the company stagnate, EV infrastructure is a green driven agenda along with smart meters, I don't have a problem with them pursuing these markets if they make it work, the pipeline and electrical connection business should look after itself.

Its been a busy last couple of weeks with Gran Tierra selling 109m shares, multiple buyers taking part in the transfer, followed by sp volatility, followed by the bond issue and the sp moving back up.
The hedging a safety backstop in case oil prices drop, and to comply with covenants if oil drops below $45/bbl though currently oil is on the rise it will be interesting to see if the higher price allows them to get a higher hedge price for the 50% of production when the bond closes on Feb 16th.
Hopefully that will be the case with PTAL setting their stall out for increased production later this year to 18k bopd all being well, all in all with the alternative route through Brazil for the oil the future is looking positive after last years disruption with the pipeline shut in.

Markets are unpredictable at present who knows how events will unfold especially when governments stop their furlough funding to companies, are we heading into a world recession?
Its very easy to come on these boards and ramp a share, prospects look favourable here but nothing is certain, if the momentum continues with debt repayments and increasing LFs the sp should rise as we move towards minimal debt.
I hope you move into profit in the near future.

I am afraid I have a different view to the dollar being toast, and more important is the US bond prices and which way they are going, if bond prices go up gold goes down and it looks as if shortly bond prices will be going up, why? watch the bond king for an alternative view to narrative which is the norm.

If stockopedia are using OPG as an example of its three methods of valuing shares we are getting exposure to investors who are probably don't know very much about us, although we are mentioned in IC as a value play, as they say any publicity is good publicity.

While the outlook is great here I would like to see some pressure coming on the US bond market forcing the yields down while they are slowly advancing it has the effect of a boot on the gold price, so much for raging inflation after all these years of QE.

Not sure if this article regarding the mineral sands outlook has been posted before it's written with reference to our competitor BSE as a reference to the market.
It was published in Oct 2020 so 3 months old now, it's a bullish outlook so even it's been referenced previously why not read it again.

Thanks for the info ConMan94, I usually follow the commodity prices on trading economics web site, which follows US futures for coal, so as you say must be different types of coal, today the price is down on their site to $79.5.
A quick search for Indonesia coal I spotted this
Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources set its December thermal coal reference price – also known as Harga Batubara Acuan, or HBA – at $59.65/mt, down 10% year on year but up 7.1% on the month, according to a ministry official.
I am not sure what price we should use as reference for OPG.
I will have to refresh my memory through past RNS's to see what info they give about coal.

Shortly debt free, with the hedging of 30% of production looks like caution first in an uncertain world, perhaps they need that backstop for what is planned in the year ahead, particularly liked the following.

With prices still being maintained for our products the fall is the working of the market, a general sell off effecting all commodities and nothing more, we have had a great run which reflected the milestones achieved last year.

I would take paying off the debt before divis all day long, but it does highlight the confidence the bod have going forward, in the current environment of low interest rates may prompt others to research us further.

With ref to US bonds and the link to the price of gold, bond prices go up gold goes down, while QE is still active suppressing interest rates and in reality creating deflation it's maintains the balance we live with now, after all these years of QE money creation from 2008 using economic data for inflation it hasn't materialised.
What happens when eventually QE is stopped, bond prices increase interest rates go up inflation shows up, people move their money away from risk into saving accounts and gold? will it go down along with stocks.

Another excellent update from OPG since they took the decision to deleverage the impact on the debt has been significant, and they have managed more here, with the rate they are going a cash positive company doesn't look to far away.
I see they are now addressing carbon emissions a prudent move as if they don't I can only see them being hit by a carbon farther down the line.

Hello guys, this is a very enjoyable thread to read, the following is a bit left field, I posted on KMR with ref to weather/climate, with Ragnar mentioning soybeans wheat and rice prices might be worth watching.

As a side interest I got into the climate change warming issue due to co2, only to find co2 is being demonized its only a minute percentage of the atmosphere, beneficial to the greening of the earth, commercial growers pump co2 at 1200ppm into their greenhouses for stronger more pest resistant plants, greater yields and more drought resistance, other major players with climate are the oceans, jet stream and the most important driver the sun.
We are currently entering a grand solar minimum, which means the sun is currently going through a quiet period with less sun spots/output, this can effect the magnetic strength around the poles as they weaken this effects the jet streams with warm air moving up towards the poles cold air down away from the poles, erratic unpredictable weather, also watch out for volcanic activity and earthquakes.
What is happening now is that we are entering a cold weather period, not warming as the media claims, more severe weather, colder weather and most importantly climate change to food growing regions in the US, Canada, Russia, China etc with shorter periods for growing, to wet to plant seed and early frosts at harvesting leading to food shortages.

Its possible food security may become an issue in the near future, its an interesting subject cyclical long term weather patterns, the man made co2 climate carbon tax agenda for controlling climate? the thousand year cycles may offer a better clue.
