Agreed they COULD RNS the change, they may yet do it tomorrow, but I would suggest they don't HAVE to, and so they don't. I'd be happy if they did, but won't hold my breath waiting and trust them to get on with the work anyway.

'Scancell has doubled the directly available time resource, at CEO level' - so how do you know that LD spent exactly half her time at Nottingham and the other half at Scancell? Fact is, you don't. She was CEO last week, she's CEO this week. Whatever difference it makes to Scancell (considerable and significant I suspect and hope) it still isn't a change of appointment as far as the company is concerned.

Because she was CEO of scancell before she retired from Notingham, and she's CEO of Scancell now she's retired. Why bother to RNS that?

You know, the way scientists with a lifetime passion for a project just shut up shop and go home at 5pm on the afternoon of their 65th birthday. Departure from Nottingham Uni is their loss and Scancell's distinct gain imo. But we probably have to suffer a little gloomology along the way, unless they finally want to just do one at last.

On the other hand, I can't think how many times I've seen press articles about some new project that is going to cure all known diseases and turn lead into gold, and then you read a couple of lines further and find that work thus far is a hypothesis but given ten years and 'funding' it could possibly bear fruit. And that's the last anyone ever hears of it. Frustrating it may be, but I'm more than used to scancell only putting out news when there's something factual to say - OK it could be phrased with a little more excitement at times, but after this many years I'd probably get suspicious if they started putting out peripheral details and extra frills.

Thanks miavoce - I opened the link and clicked on the 'like', and unsurprisingly it increased by one. Went away for a while, reopened it, and can't add to or remove the 'like.'
So I presume the increase in 'likes' is somehow due to a greater exposure or awareness which is all well and good. If there's any more to it than that we shall find out un due course.

As Suzy suggested that the RNSs should be taken as the only true milestones of achievement, and given that I have not yet taken any position in VAL having followed it for a considerable while, I was having a look at the last clinical RNS on VAL201 which was 30th November 2020 - it has a link to www.valirx.com/our-pipeline/val201 which said that it was safe and well tolerated in just 12 patients, and the RNS on 28 September 2020 highlighted the response rate of 54.5%. 'Response' was confirmed by a lack of disease progression by PCWG2 (Prostate Cancer Working Group 2) criteria, and looking at the actual completed paper on the VAL website, those PCWG2 criteria define 'response' as 'PSA INCREASE no greater than 25%, Tumour size INCREASE no greater than 20%, No more than 1 ADDITIONAL metastatic lesion.' Of the 11 patients in the trial who completed it, only 4 (36%) completed all 6 cycles in the trial. I have taken black and white from company releases only for this, but can anyone contribute detail to show any more comprehensive benefit derived from 201? (RNS and company based releases only please - I don't want to start an opinion storm.) Also the November 2020 RNS says that additional detailed analysis of the results will form the basis of peer-reviewed journal publications - anyone got a link to anything that has appeared since then please? Money waiting to be invested if you can convince me!

I suspect that today's RNS is far more significant than some of our 'regulars' would like to admit.

Market reaction is less of an issue than actual solid scientific progress. And it looks like the science is good, which is ultimately what matters.

The association can imo be called 'Well known' on this board, but as usual the extent and activity relating to it is anyone's guess, so please don't jump down my throat and try to suggest my post implies anything imminent or bolted on re Biontech. PRIOR collaborations would be covered by the Grand Challenge project blueprint, but again it depends how a poster wants to interpret PRIOR. Former and now defunct, or previously engaged upon and out of the limelight? I don't think the words 'very reasonable grounds for optimism that such a tie-up is a realistic possibility' are too much in the forbidden realm of happy clappy mad ramper buy buy buy eight quid a share though.

The link between Scancell and Biontech is well known, but I would imagine and tie-up in respect of covidity would wait until at least the phase 1 results are assembled and reviewed. There are, imo, very reasonable grounds for optimism that such a tie-up is a realistic possibility, but just for balance it might be that the sp is about to drop by 60 percent or more. (No basis for that last comment, it's just to keep certain quarters from having to expend energy stirring fiction on a hot Sunday)
