Pressure to address climate change won’t disappear and investor pressure is gathering pace. S&P (rating agency) recently acknowledged the commercial risk to oil majors of not having sufficient strategies to address climate change, amongst some other risks, by down grading credit ratings by a notch. BP weren’t affected, I believe.

Fossil fuels aren’t ever going to disappear, the challenge to the oil majors is to clean their act up. The goal is carbon neutral - use the harmful gases you produce as well as cleaning up your processes.

BP is ahead of the game in my opinion - I’m sitting tight and trading the dips - and hoping they don’t blow a well head causing environmental catastrophe In the meantime

Looks to me like the market influencers pushing an inflation narrative, creating a bit of panic and benefitting from fall

You might find concerns about Iran nuclear, China trade, virus mutations enter the narrative also

No need to panic, the future is bright

I think sentiment is turning, the narrative is moving more and more to annual vaccine boosters and living with Covid-19 like its flu

BP will not become a wind farm operator

Global energy demands cannot be met in the near future without hydro carbons
Energy companies continue to spend 75% - 80% of investment on hydrocarbons
Cost of production has been significantly reduced
The goal is to make our planet cleaner through carbon offset so zero net carbon emissions by 2050
Shareholder/investor agitation cannot be ignored and will likely grow

In my opinion BP strategy recognises this - give them time

All that UK has going for it at this minute is the successful vaccine rollout

UK is up to its eyes in debt with higher taxes likely and telegraphing it to all - EU and US not nearly as ‘open’ IMO
Unemployment likely to rise as businesses go bust
The FTSE is trading at a discount and is not that attractive right now because US is flying
UK Corporate earnings reporting this quarter has so far been disappointing
The country is under pressure as a Union

With regards to green lobby, they want to be shareholders and sit on bod in order to have some influence on ESG

I agree Mojo, I feel we’re around about where we should but it will fluctuate. Bet we all wish we’d sold at £3 and bought back at £2.50 or lower.

Big boys play the fluctuations because they are pro’s and know how to. We can join in by selling high, buying low but we need a bit more luck and patience......

Guys like Ceders, Tacet, Geng on this BB are obviously skilled at playing the fluctuations as they understand the science - love reading your posts, keep it coming guys.

No point trying to predict or ramp. As you have already said, this share is fluctuating upwards in line with containment of the virus and opening of economies. I have a very realistic target price of £4 by 2023 (or sooner) but will be mindful of sudden surges and falls on the journey and may buy and sell accordingly, giving due consideration to the ‘science’ shared by others. Sold 50% around £3 and bought them back gradually on the way down from £2.70. Hopefully there will be other opportunities.
